I was so sorry to hear that Mrs. Malcomson has passed away. She taught me in elementary school grade 6. She’s is that one teacher that I will remember always. Not only did she encourage my schoolwork, specifically my writing and storytelling, but she helped to guide me through the most difficult school year with love, encouragement and compassion. I think of her so often. Thank you Mrs. Malcomson for being so influential in my life. I’m lucky to have known you. You and your family are in my prayers this Christmas season and always. God Bless

To the Malcolmson family- we regret circumstances do not allow us to express ourselves in person! Your Dad taught for Jim and is often discussed by us as one of the very best and most amazing teacher and human being! The ultimate tribute was former students organizing a retirement party for him! Through your Dad we got to know your wonderful Mom and are so very saddened to learn of her passing! We often met and caught up with her at Grimsby Authors and grew to know how she adored you her family! Your Mom like your Dad was a very caring and selfless person. Her quiet, thoughtful manner exuded patience and kindness! All qualities of a wonderful teacher but also human being! You were truly blessed to have such wonderful parents and we understand the depth of this loss for you all! Our very special thoughts and sympathy go out to each of you as you embrace all that you have been given but also lost. Nancy and Jim Gallacher

It was with great sadness when reading of Janet’s passing. We both grew up in Western Hill on opposite sides
of Louth Street. Years later our paths crossed at Brock University with her husband Bob. Then again, our paths
crossed in teaching, her with the Niagara Catholic Board and myself with the Niagara Public Board. ( I got to know
her husband, Bob, also as an excellent teacher and being greatly admired by his students in the Public Board.)
Janet and I were both passionate about Reading and helping children to discover the joy of Reading and
sharing our favourite books with them.
It was a great pleasure knowing both Janet and Bob. We have lost two very remarkable people whose work in
Education will live on through the students’ lives which they have impacted greatly.
My sympathy to the entire family. ( I remember Margie and Dougie briefly from Louth St.)
Sincerely, Julien Peter Gauvreau

We had the honour and joy to teach with Janet for a few years. She was very kind and fun spirited to us both as new teachers. We remember the staff parties and lunch room silliness that we enjoyed together. We share our deepest condolences and heartfelt prayers with the Malcomson family.

Mrs. Malcomson was more than just a teacher to those of us lucky enough to be in her classroom; she was a guiding light, a mentor, and a source of endless inspiration. In Grade 4, Mrs. Malcomson made learning an adventure. Every day was a new chapter filled with encouragement, creativity, and kindness. Her wisdom and love will never be forgotten.
