To Mr. Craig’s family
I had the pleasure of being taught by Mr. Craig while at Lakeport, Grade 11. It was Math, yet it was not Math that was taught. Let me explain. I was not very good with numbers. Alphabets, x’s, y’s, abc’s mixed with number befuddled me. I tried, not too hard, but I did try. I did not skip a class under Mr. Craig’s watch. I instinctively knew that to ‘skip’ his class was not going to go over well. It was found to be the only ‘formula’ I succeeded to master in his Math Class. At the end of the semester Mr. Craig pulled me aside and explained that he was exempting me from the final exam! He said that he witnessed that math was just not in my future. I knew the basics and that would suit me well enough, but being that I was sitting at 51%, writing the final would not work out well for me, but since I attended all classes I was given a ‘pass’. Every other student, even those in the high 90’s had to write…no exceptions. I just smiled. Mr. Craig taught me compassion, empathy and the importance of observation. He was a good guy!

Dear Darren & Family, Jimmy, Jen and Families and Carla, our sincere condolences on the loss of Wayne. As a kid I remember Wayne as a bit of a mystery parent with a secret workshop and office in the lower basement. It was a real treat when Darren and I got to use his office and computer to search the mighty Encyclopedia Britannica for a school project on “lasers”. I actually got to know Wayne more in recent years in answering questions and helping him find some specialists to rethink his epilepsy treatment. I used to have lots of engaging phone calls and emails with him. I was glad to hear that he achieved his goal of getting his license back. Now, he’s probably cruising the heaven’s with the celestial breeze blowing through his hair.
The relationships between children and their parents are so special and should be cherished and celebrated at every chance. Sadly, the passing of a parent reminds us of that. We hope you find comfort sharing in the wonderful memories and gifts Wayne brought into your lives and with the rest of the world.
Love,
Greg, Gabi, Genna & Geoffrey
