Hi Craig, I was away with my mom in Quebec last week and missed the news of your mom’s passing. Kathy Giroux didn’t know how far back we go. From our days at Canadian Martyrs to PK where your mom and Joe ruled the roost. Then I taught at HC and my girls were involved in Ladies Softball with Marianne and Gert on the executive. Her life and all the fun she packed into her years makes me smile. She really had a grand slam and now has rounded home for the last time. God Bless… hugs to all.

Our sincere sympathy is extended to the Allen family.
Marianne was a great secretary when I worked with her at Holy Cross. She knew everyone and everything that made the school run. I also had the opportunity to help out with her computer challenges along with a baseball tournament.
May your memories of her and Bill be a lasting blessing.

My sincere condolences to all who were able to have Marianne be in their life. Marianne was a wonderful lady who gave a bit of herself to everyone she met. Her love and passion for the game of softball was infectious and she helped grow the game not only in her home of Saint Catharines but throughout the province through her dedication and support of the many groups she was a part of through her life. My Dad, Wilf Barker, had a tremendous respect and love for Marianne and the guidance she provided to him through his involvement with the Hamilton Pontiacs Junior Softball team. I have many memories of them talking together - smiling and laughing away - as my Dad would say “she is one of the good ones” and I soon learned what he meant as I got to know Marianne better.
Thank you Marianne for all you did for the game, for me personally and my family, and for the many people you interacted with on a daily basis. Your smile, laugh and spirit will be greatly missed

Truly saddened to learn of Marianne's going from our midst, into life eternal I pray. Having first met her (and Bill) in my earlier years of priesthood, while she was serving as a most personable school secretary, I can say that she left quite an impression on me and I was pleased to meet up with her several times ever since, over the years. I hadn't seen her for some time, though, and that is why this news has filled me with true sorrow. I offer my fervent prayers and that of our Catholic community here in Niagara-on-the-Lake for the repose of Marianne's soul and for all of you in the Allen family, much-loved by her as you certainly were. Dear Craig & Carolyn,
I am so sorry for your loss. Your mother was such a wonderful person. I remember her being the secretary at PK Kerwin school. She was just a wonderful lady who treated all kids the same. She was caring and loving. I am so sorry for your terrible loss of your mom.

Craig, Carolyn and family, my sincerest condolences to you all. From our early years of our families being together, so many amazing memories. And starting in ball at a very young age to transitioning to coaching, your mom was a very big part of my ball life. Your mom was so passionate in everything she did but especially ball!! She was instrumental in my decision to go on to be on both the St. Catharines softball executive team to PWSA board. Lots of hard work and fun during those years. Thanks for the memories. I will miss you so.

We have lost an amazing woman who was truly an inspiration to many people, young and old, in the sport of Softball. Marianne was a passionate volunteer with the St. Catharine’s Ladies Softball Association , the Ontario Provincial Women’s Softball Association(PWSA), and Softball Canada.
She willingly gave her time and talents to Softball , her Church , and her community.
She was always willing to help others in any way possible and had so much fun and satisfaction doing so.
She was a true friend and she will be missed by her loving family and many friends, but never forgotten.
Thank you Marianne for letting me be a small part of your amazing life.

So sorry to hear of Marianne’s passing. Thoughts and prayers to Craig, Carolyn and family.
She was always full of life and always so willing to give a helping hand. From friends in the 1950s to raising our kids in the 60s and 70s, to many vacations together, TRW dances and the many house parties relaxing and having fun. Many wonderful memories.
Marianne you will be sorely missed.

In the 1950s, I played on Morgans softball team with Marianne, She played short stop and I played third base.
Starting back then, Marianne spent the many next years devoted to women's softball in St. Catharines and provincially.
I waited until recent years to put my memories and the history of the St. Catharines Ladies Softball League into a book.
This was followed by book#2, "Extra Innings" where Marianne was one of the few profiled for her contributions that lead to her induction into the St. Catharines Sports Hall of Fame.
I am so sorry for the loss of Marianne. My deepest condolences.

My deepest condolences to the Allen family on the passing of Marianne. Affectionately know as Mrs. Softball in St. Catharines. Marianne was the consummate volunteer for Ladies Softball ensuring that young girls and women had the same opportunities to play softball as the men and boys did. She was a wonderful person in every aspect of her life. May she rest in peace

To my Mom
We loved you dearly. Your presence will be missed by not only your family but by your softball family. You worked tirelessly not only for the St. Catharines Ladies Softball League the P.W.S.A. and even the Canadian Nationals. And loved every minute of it. I'm also proud say that my mom received the Sportsman of the Year and many more awards. You were 5 foot nothing but stood so tall. Love and miss you

So so many of my younger years on the ball field and seeing her watch and encourage and support the game and the players was such a gift to say the least ! Her spirit has forever shaped me and inspired me to give back to the softball community I am a part of as my daughter now takes the field and the love for ball ! She was such a lovely woman. Love to you all as you grieve her passing.
