Belated discovery of the passing of a friend from our McMaster University. Back in 1966 we were taking an art course with Tony Urquhart in the the old buildings. Bob befriended me and helped me with my introduction to oil painting. His kindness is still memorable.

Mr Peabody was my principal at St Edward school in Jordan. I would always love our school mass or assembly’s where there would be singing. Wow, what a voice, such presence, it was a gift to hear his voice just boom through the echo of the gym.
Years later, saw him out in the community with my own children, he still remembered me and my family, as well as my name and asked how my parents were doing. In that conversation, we realized that my son would be starting school in his daughter’s (Sara’s) kindergarten class.
My deepest condolences to his family and friends. He touch a lot of lives in such inspiring ways.
Thinking of you,
Donna, Jerry, Nicolas and Alexis Clute

Bob was the principal at St. Anthony's school when I was there over 50 years and he had an amazing impact on me and many others in my family and peer group. As I young child I had the absolute sense that he truly cared and that made such a difference to so many. I consider myself very lucky to have been re- acquainted with him as an adult through our friendship with his sister in and law and brother in law, Jane and Richard. Ann and family, my heart is with you in your loss. Bob was an amazing person and I hope it brings you comfort to know how his very positive impact on so many people will be his legacy for a long time to come.

My condolences to Bob's family, friends and colleagues in the loss of a special man. If the saying is true that "it takes a village to raise a child," it takes a skilled and compassionate principal and staff to make successes happen in their school years. My son Jonathan attended Our Lady of Fatima School, and Bob created an atmosphere to ensure students would have their needs and strengths identified, resources put in place, and paths to their successes, charted. It was a great school community to be a part of. His kind personality, guidance, and willingness to listen made opportunities for families and the teaching staff to work together for the good of the child. With Bob's many years in education I know there are a lot of people, my family included, who are very grateful for his wonderful contributions in providing the important and necessary learning foundations in those formative elementary years. Thank you, Mr. Peabody, you are fondly remembered. Rest in peace.

Dear Ann, Christopher, Mark, and Sara,
I'm so sorry to hear of Bob's passing. It must be a terrible loss for you and your loved ones. Bob made a wonderful difference in so many lives, including mine It is because of his early influence on me while at St. Anthony and the teachers I was lucky enough to have at Denis Morris that I became a teacher, a vocation I loved until the day I retired. You may not remember this Ann, but I babysat for you and your kids in the early 70's. Wishing you peace during this difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your families. To the Peabody family
I am very sad to hear of Bob’s passing and am sorry for your loss.
Years ago I taught instrumental music one afternoon a week to St Anthony school. He was a very kind principal and welcomed me warmly.
I also taught Music at DM and taught some of his children. I was impressed with his artistic skills as well as his promoting the arts in education. I am a member of St Julia choir and enjoyed talking with him over the years. He was a very friendly and kind person and a true gentleman. He will be much missed.
