Obituary of Dave Himann
With extremely heavy hearts we announce the passing of Dave on March 21st 2023 in his 62nd year. Surrounded by his family, Dave passed unexpectedly following a COVID-19 pneumonia infection at St. Catharines Hospital ICU. Beloved Husband of Judi (nee Newhouse) for 35 years. Devoted father to Kelli (Austin Liddycoat), Allison and Nicholas (Barbara). Proud Paw to Jackson and James. He will be especially missed by his sisters Joan (Greg Gordon), Maggie and Sandra. He will be missed by many in-laws, nieces and nephews. He leaves behind his "favourite" sister-in-law Cathy (Mike Schroeder). He also leaves behind his fur babies Winni and Simba. Dave is predeceased by his parents Charles and Roberta (nee Grundy) Himann.
Dave was an excellent mechanic for over 40 years. He worked throughout the Niagara region before opening Northern Auto and Tire with his friend and business partner Greg Hallenbeck. He was an avid hockey and racquetball player before his rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis. He was an all-around family man and in recent years he took to travelling the world with the love of his life Judi. Although they went on many adventures, Disney World was by far their favorite travel destination. When he wasn't traveling, he could be found out on his prized boat, fishing his days away with great friends. He was the most generous soul and always made time for family, friends, and strangers in need.
Dave's family wishes to thank the St. Catharines ICU team for their exceptional care and compassion during Dave's stay.
Family and friends are invited for visitation Monday March 27th at GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton Street St. Catharines from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm. Funeral service will take place Tuesday March 28th at 1pm in the funeral home ceremony room. For those wishing to participate virtually, please click on the livestream link below. Family and friends will be welcomed to a Celebration of Life at Merritton Community Center following the service from 3pm-8pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Arthritis Society Canada and Diabetes Canada would be appreciated by Dave's family.
