We truly have lost one of the good ones. I have known Dave for over 50 years. There are countless memories of hanging out, whether it be casino nights, hockey games, racquetball, or boating. I think even ball hockey on Kilbourne Crescent.
Great memories of teaming up to do jobs around our houses or Dave's business. Dave would always find time to help me with my car needs. Helping each other was a big part of our friendship and that's what friends do!
There was always something going on at the Himann house, but no matter how busy he was, Dave would drop what he was doing and solve some world problems over a coffee or a cold beer.
I think everyone would agree Dave was the best technician around!
Most of all he was a good guy!
He will surely be missed.

It’s funny how things happen just a few days ago, my mind drifted back to our days on kilbourne crescent and how we all ran through the ditches without a care in the world. Uncle Charles and Aunt Roberta plus Joan, Margaret, David and Sandra (there was already a Sandy on the street) were family. Doors were unlocked and freshie was available at any house at our end of the street. I took my first car to David before I bought it. The 1976 VW Rabbit stayed alive for many years under his care.
David had a gentleness about him and a trusting smile.
It wasn’t until we left the neighbourhood that I learned we were not really related but then when I read that his business partner was a cousin… I guess maybe we are. Rest in peace Dave. Hugs to all the Himann Family

Our family association with the Himanns goes back to the 1940s, and maybe even earlier. Our mothers attended Knox Presbyterian Church, joined the Young Peoples Association, and our fathers joined as well. Our mothers were in each others wedding parties. Aunt Bobbi and Uncle Charles had four children, son David grew up to become a terrific auto mechanic. Our father, John, always treated his vehicles with good care, David was his auto mechanic of choice for many, many years. Dad (if we have the history correct) followed David, from Canadian Tire at the Grantham Plaza, to Cullen’s on Ontario Street, to David’ s own auto shop in Niagara Falls. We boys would hear the stories about David from Dad, and how well he looked after Dad’s cars. We were always grateful that a family friend was looking after Dad, and he was in good hands.
To Judi and family, and the sisters, Joan, Margaret, and Sandra we offer our sincere condolences, and we are truly sorry for your loss.
Rest in Peace David Himann.
Sincerely,
The van Boys (Bruce, Gary and Ian)

Growing up on Kilborne Crescent i spent many days playing with the Himanns. My condolences to Sandra, Margaret and Joan. I remember the large band posters in David's room and pushing that soap box derby car up and down the street. It is always a shame to reconnect this way.

I was shocked and very saddened to hear of Dave's passing.. I had the pleasure of working with Dave as a fellow Mechanic at Canadian Tire overt 30 years ago. Recently I met up with Dave again, and nothing had changed, except our lack of hair.It would be difficult to praise and comment on Dave's character or mechanical ability more than what has already been said When you first met Dave you just automatically liked him !My heart goes out to his Family and all his Friends.

I am truly saddened to hear of Dave's passing , we worked together at Brian Cullen Motors and Dave was always happy to share his knowledge. He was indeed the most talented diagnostic technician I have ever met. I enjoyed the times we had together watching Nascar races. My condolences to the family. God must have needed a tech to diagnose issues in heaven. Rest in peace Dave!

Judi and Family,
I first met Dave when I started working at Star Collision, 4 years ago….. I will miss his quick wit, his “good morning” shout and wave….. his chats…. His wisdom he easily offered.
Judi, my heart breaks for you and your family. Hold close the many wonderful memories the two of you, and your family have built together throughout the years
