Obituary of Laurino Ferrante

Laurino “Larry” Ferrante
January 4, 1934 – March 7, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Laurino “Larry” on Tuesday March 7, 2023, at the age of 89, surrounded by his family. A jovial soul was greeted in heaven by his loving wife of 61 years, Maria Grace (March 2020). Larry was a loving and generous family man and will be deeply missed by his two daughters Antoinette “Toni” (Fabrizio) Castelli, Erma (Frank) Maselli. Cherished grandfather to Jessica, Elisa, Laura, Michael, Daniel, Nicholas, Samantha and his great-grand puppies Olive and Honey. Survived by his sister Vittoria in Italy. Predeceased by his sister Lina, brother-in-law Mario, and brother Domenic.  He will be dearly missed by his extended family and friends in both Canada and Italy.

Larry was adventurous in his younger years, venturing from his home in Italy to Germany for work and eventually coming to Canada to ensure a fulfilling life for his family. Laurino was a valued member of St. Alfred’s Church where he was a parishioner for over 55 years and served as the Vice President of the Our Lady of Grace Committee.

Larry was affectionately known as “Nonno” by many, a man who was easily brought to tears from simple acts of love. With a sense of humour and a smile, Larry made many friends in the community, church, YMCA and Anchor Pointe. Our memories of him will be as distinct and unique as he was. Larry had an unwavering spirit for life, may his playful soul shine on.

The family will recieve guests on Thursday March 9th from 5-8pm with Vigil Prayers at 6pm at George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton St. St Catharines, Ontario, L2M 4Y1. Tel: 905-937-4444. Funeral Service to be held at George Darte Funeral Home Friday March 10th at 2pm.
