My Uncle Larry: I remember as a child living with with my older brother Dom, and younger brothers Tony, Mario was not born yet on Royal Manor street in North End St. Catharine's. My dad Mario and mom Lina (uncle Larry's sister)decided that they would invite Laurino, aunt Grace, and their young children( Antoinette and Erma) to come stay with us and start a life in Canada. Well as happened, Uncle Larry and aunt Grace agreed and away their new life began. My uncle worked with my dad as a plasterer and from there saved enough money to buy a home. It was fun having my cousins around as well as my aunt and uncle. My uncle Larry always had a story for me and it could be about anything form growing up in Italy, working in Germany or how my mother picked on him as kid. I bonded with my uncle as he was always so fun to be around and always willing to teach me something. he was a great instructor as well as a joke teller, also a pretty good cheater at Italian card games. My uncle was probably one of the best inventors of gadgets that would apply to Italian folk lore and cooking. For example: automatic cavatelli and gniochi assembly line which could spit out enough food to feed a small village in a small amount of time. Original model was operated by a cheap drill and later re engineered to accommodate an electrical motor. Wow you should see this thing work. The best was the sausage machine which was modified to include a 20 to 1 ratio gear box. It was funny to hear him say 20 to 1 in English. I will always miss my time with my uncle and those glasses of wine that e enjoyed together.
