Obituary of George William McPherson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of George William McPherson who passed away peacefully after a brief illness at the age of 86 with his loving family by his side on February 8 2022. Husband and best friend to Jean for 65 years. Dad to George (Shirley), Penny (Herb, 2018), Laurie (Greig), Stewart and Kimberly. The best Papa to: Greig Jr. (Kristina), Drew, Maryjean, Kathryn (Adam), Kristine (Todd), Stephanie (Kyle), the late Clayton (2012), Mackenzie, Wesley, Miranda (Amber), Blake (Hannah), Brittaney (Brandon) George III, Elaine and Mandi. Great-Papa had a special bond with the little ones: Ben, Luke, Walter, Benson, Brantley, Jade and Ellie. George was predeceased by his parents, Marvin and Florence (nee. Townsend), sister Bernice (Lyn) and his brother Gerald. He will be missed by many other family members and friends. Last but not least, his best friend and companion, Charlie, who will miss his Arrowroot cookies. Dad was an avid truck driver and drove many miles to support his family. If you needed directions or got lost, you knew who to call. He also enjoyed travelling with Jean in their motorhome on many trips to Alaska, Newfoundland, Florida and The Keys. He would always follow and cheer the children for sporting events, loved a good game of golf, fishing and having coffee with his friends. A special thank you to the many family members and also Kristina for all her guidance, support and compassion. The family is beyond grateful and would have been lost without you. Dad, you will truly be missed by all of us, rest in peace until we meet again. In keeping with Dad’s wishes, funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME 585 Carlton St. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life may be held at a later date.
