On one visit to Lou's, her and I were making coffee. We loaded the coffee maker and turned it on. In an instant there was coffee spilling from the machine onto the counter and we had an emergency cleanup as we discovered that I had put the coffee pot in the wrong way. I was impressed that Lou laughed as we dealt with the mess. It showed a great sense of humour. Walt

Love your memories, Walt. Every time we went to St. Kitts, you brought your toolbox to repair something for Mom. She will be so pleased and touched that you are handcrafting an urn from wood just for her. Xo - jerri

Thank you so much Jerri, and Sue, for sharing so much about your mom. It's an honour and a blessing to be cut from the same cloth. She was always generous to us (her nieces and nephews), and such a good big sister to our dad. It's comforting to think she'll be keeping an eye on him once again! I will always remember the positive impact she had on our lives, introducing my parents to "Sugar Blues" in the 70s (I don't hold the awful orange-juice-sweetened carob birthday cake against her! haha) and planting a seed in my 5(?) year old mind ... one that's grown to a ripe understanding of health and wellness that I really value. I'm so sorry you're navigating this during a pandemic - as if it's not hard enough already. Much love to you both, and those wonderful grandchildren of hers. xoxo Tara

So sorry to hear about your loss. As a once member of your extended family there was a time I knew Lou reasonably well and always found her to be a welcoming women. I know how much he meant to you all. I've made a donation to the local (Kingston) women's shelter, Interval House, in memory of Lou.

One of my favorite memories of Lou, was after Jerri (Janice) and I had been together for a few years, Lou asked if I would go for walk with her. During the walk, she basically politely grilled me regarding my intentions, what assets I was bringing into the situation etc. I had great respect for Lou. Here she was, well into her 70's, still looking out for her daughter!
