HOULDEN, James T. (Jim)

Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 in his 92nd year. Beloved husband of 65 years to Janine. Cherished father of James (Jane), Diane (Jim) Doughty, Robert (Katrina) and Marianne (Michael) Chernishenko. Loving grandfather of 12 grandchildren, Darcy, Andrea, Melanie, Jim, Will, James, Patrick, Michael, Matthew, Natasha, Alex, Devon and 10 great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Bill (Silvi) Vine, Doug (Deb) Vine and brother-in-law to Nicole. Predeceased by his brother Joseph, his mother Winnifred, his father Norman, and stepfather William F. Vine. Jim was a graduate of GMI in Flint, Michigan, where he received his Bachelor of Industrial Engineering. He worked at GM as part of the management team, retiring after 38 years of service. Jim was a proud member and served on the executive of the Sporting Clubs of Niagara. He will be remembered for his love of dogs and nature. His retirement project, a cottage in the Haliburton Highlands, has become a second home to his family and will be enjoyed for generations to come. The family wishes to express our sincere thanks to all of the homecare workers and the staff at Woodlands of Sunset for their compassionate care. Cremation has taken place. Family and friends will be received at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Tuesday, May 29 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Alfred Roman Catholic Church, 272 Vine St., St. Catharines on Wednesday, May 30 at 11 a.m.
