I first met Jim in 1994 at the founding meeting of what would become "The Sporting Clubs of Niagara". Over the years as we worked together I got to know him well. He never failed to help with our activities whether it was writing letters to politicians, helping out at our gun shows, assisting with the mass mailing of our quarterly newsletter or developing strategies to deal with a hostile government.
Well spoken and insightful, Jim's contributions were always welcome. Whenever a new development that affected lawful gun owners hit the media I could count on a call from Jim to update me on what was written in the Toronto Star, National Post, Globe and Mail, St. Catharines Standard, etc.
Even as the years passed and he grew older he was still a regular attendee at our meetings and only gradually withdrew form the club activities in the last year or two as Jeanine developed some health issues and Jim didn't want to leave her home alone.
Jim and my dad knew each other, living in the same neighbourhood, attending the Collegiate at the same time and both serving in the army during the war.
He was a fine man and I am proud to say he was my friend.
On behalf of TSCON and myself our deepest sympathies are extended to the family. While Jim lived a good long life it is never easy to say goodbye to a loved one and the world is diminished with his passing.
RIP Jim.

Hello Bob:
So sorry to learn of the passing of your dad.. Although I never had the privilege of meeting him personally the notes which were sent show a caring father ,husband and grandfather.
Losing a father is particularly painful to a son--he will always be with you--just a thought away. God give him peace and comfort you and your family at this time of pain and extreme sorrow.
Sincerely,
Your friend and associate
