Obituary of William "Bill" Douglas Watson
May 8, 1935-March 16, 2018
Born in St. Catharines to Isabel Masterton Watson (nee Blain) and Pierce Repman Watson. Died peacefully, surrounded by family, at Hospice Niagara in St. Catharines after a two year war on cancer (and death itself). Loved forever by his wife Lelia (nee Angle) formerly Bergstrom. Lee and Bill shared a great romance. Cherished forever by his sons Jeff (Amy), Doug (Valerie), John, Derek and the late Carl and his favourite daughter Holly (Jim). He leaves behind 11 grandchildren and his former wife Gerri. Survived by his sister Nancy (Gerry).
Bill loved life with an unparalleled zest. Bill was a gifted athlete, a loyal friend, a wise advisor and a natural leader. However, what he really excelled at was friendship and fatherhood. He loved and was loved by family and friends who were with him until the end. He worked (around his golf schedule) as a mortgage broker and was proud to have been involved in the building of landmark developments throughout the Niagara Region. He was a former National President of the Kinsman Club of Canada.
Special thanks to those who cared for Bill and Lee at home, in particular Joy, Nelson and Mary. Thank you to staff and volunteers at Hospice Niagara for their warm and compassionate care.
In keeping with Bill’s wishes cremation has taken place.
