Oh, please don't feel guilty
It was just my time to go.
I see you are still feeling sad,
And the tears just seem to flow.
We all come to earth for our lifetime,
And for some it's not many years
I don't want you to keep crying
You are shedding so many tears.
I haven't really left you
Even though it may seem so.
I have just gone to my heavenly home,
And I'm closer to you than you know.
Just believe that when you say
my name, I'm standing next to you,
I know you long to see me,
But there's nothing I can do.
But I'll still send you messages
And hope you understand,
That when your time comes to
“cross over,

"Some people come into our lives, leave footprints in our hearts, and we are never the same."
I'm a former cadet of Mr. and Ms. Evans from 1984-90 and a former Reservist and Regular Force member. I have thought over the years where my passion for the military started, and Mr. & Ms. Evans crossed my heart every time. I am sorry to hear "belated" of Major Evans' passing. This Remembrance Day brought back many fond memories of my time in Army Cadets as a child. Major Evans was a father figure to many of us and always encouraged us to try our best. Last time I saw him was at a Battle of St.Julien parade and mess function while serving as a Gunner with 10th Battery, 56 RCA. He seemed proud every time he saw one of us ex cadets, and his smile made you feel it deeply. The Armory was my home away from home and I ALWAYS looked forward to our family(for that's what it felt like) and mom & dad Evans, that taught us to believe in ourselves, to be strong and good. Thank you Arthur & Jenny.

Condolences. I knew Art back when I just called him Sir or Major Evans when he was the CO of the Lincoln & Welland Army Cadet Corps. He was a mentor to me and I can still remember him chiding us that 'the walls could stand on their own and didn't need us leaning on them' along with others dealing with our hands in our pockets and general dress and deportment issues. He led a good team and there was no wonder in the fact that the 68th was consistently the top Strathcona Cup winning Cadet Corp. The lessons I learned held me in good stead through out my military career and my wonderful memories of my time as an Army Cadet with Art at the helm will remain alive with me forever.

One of the pillars of our past has gone the way of all the earth. As cadets in the early 1980's, Arthur Evans put up with our misbehaviour and yet kept us firmly in line on bases and training areas throughout Southern Ontario and even in Bermuda. "Be thou strong therefore, and shew thyself a man"; I daresay he contributed greatly to making us the men we are today. You will always be remembered, sir.

To say you touched my life would be an understatement. You entered my life a proper English gentleman, I wasn't quite sure about. You left my life as a father to me and my sisters, a grandfather to my children, not to mention a long time companion to my mother (Erma Noiles). I have been left with beautiful memories of you. The bottle of champagne you brought to celebrate my 21st birthday, the six pence you gave me to put in my shoe on my wedding day, not to mention how you rushed to the hospital to see my first born son, even though you had a plane to catch. These memories will live forever in my heart. I hope where you are you have no more pain, and all the peace and joy you deserve. Love Steve, Jennifer and the boys

I had the privilege of being a cadet with the 68th during the time that Maj Evans was our CO. Our training cadre was made up of wonderful people that truly cared for "their kids". They helped us to get through those teenage years by instilling honesty, respect, honour and hardwork. When we needed to be yelled at, we got it; when we needed encouragement we got that too! Looking back now it's easy to realize that without Maj Evans & his staff we wouldn't be where we are today. I was proud to know him. He was a great CO. Non Nobis sed Patriae.

My condolences go out to Arthur's family. I met Arthur at the Anglican church in Port Robinson. I remember we all went to the Mandarin for a going away party for the organist(Aaron) I believe. We shared stories about Benny Hill,Dave Allen and Monty Python. He had a great sense of humor. Arthur could really packed the food down as well(which was good to see) Shelly...my wife,(also a dear friend of Arthur's,she used to pick him up and bring him to church every Sunday) she too would tell me about Arthur's adventures during the car ride to the church. Arthur also gave Shelly a bottle of wine labelled "The Dogs Bollocks" to show me it was hilarious to say the least. we would also talk about some old Cockney sayings. I'm glad that I met Arthur, for the short time I knew him he left a great memory with me.

Arthur was like a father to me and I will miss him greatly, our get together s, stories that we shared, the good times, the sad times, those television show such as, "on the buses" and "Mr Bean" that he so loved to watch. When I see them I will think of him.
Every-time I go down to the Armories and up to the mess for a Beer I'll think of him as I share the fond memories with the others that have had the pleasure to have known him.
As a Cadet myself in the 70's he taught me to always have respect and to this day the admiration and respect I have for him goes without question. I will forever remember him in my heart.
He always called me by my childhood name Nino and that was OK with me. Catch you later Arthur no more pain for you Rest in Peace.
