Uncle Ducky was an amazing lacrosse player who was among the elite players of the St.Catharines Athletics. My father Eldon (Vernon's brother) would tell me stories of the draw the Athletics had in St.Catharines in the 1940's. Visiting Uncle Ducky when I was very young who lived all his life next to the Haig Bowl and hearing Dad's stories always stuck with me. Winning the Mann Cup in 1944 and 1946 was a testament to his team and his love of the sport.
