Dear Derek, Frances and Peter,
We offer our sincere condolence and deepest sympathy on the passing of your dear Penny. She was one hell of a firecracker, right up until the end.
We will hold fond memories of the times you both spent sitting on my parents front deck, doing the 'neighbourhood watch', with Penny sipping her red wine (with hot water of course) or with a pint of Guinness. My Mum & Dad loved the baking Penny would often drop off to them, which just showed how caring and thoughtful Penny was. She will be missed by all of us but never far from our thoughts.
May the outpouring of sympathy from family and friends give you the comfort in knowing that your loss is felt by many and helps you through this difficult time.

Dear Derek, Frances and Peter,
I am so so sorry to hear of Penny's passing. I only met Penny a few times, but what a beautiful, vivacious and humorous person she was. There are so few words that can help ease the pain when you lose someone as special as she was. Perhaps knowing that she safe from harm’s way will comfort you, as it did me, when my mom passed. I am thinking of you all during this very sad and difficult time. If I can be of any help Derek, please do not hesitate to call upon me (705-722-0092). I am thinking of you all.

The music stops, and yet it echoes

I have wonderful memories of my Auntie Penny, both from here in England (I remember Auntie Penny helping me with some particularly difficult homework!), and on the two occasions I visited Canada. Uncle Derek and Auntie Penny always the most amazing hosts. Auntie Penny (and Uncle Derek) pulled out all the stops for me when I stayed, and I was spoilt the entire time! As were Nim and Chris! Always warm, generous and kind. You'll never be forgotten.

Dear Derek & Family,
Michael and I are deeply saddened at learning of Penny's death. We are
somewhat shocked at the sudden passing as we were unaware of her
health condition. Penny's laughter will remain a constant good memory.
While we never managed to get down to visit your new abode we did think
about you pair and how you were doing.
Please keep us in mind regarding the Celebration of Life for Penny as we
would love to attend.
With Deepest Sympathy,
Michael & Anne (Moorcroft)

How do I start?
My brother, Derek, and Penny married at St John's Church, Kingston upon Thames, England 52 years ago. I was Derek's best man.
What do I recall most about Penny?
She was a born leader. She was a loving wife and mother. She endeared herself to our Mum and Dad.
When she went off to Canada to start her new life with Derek, Mum and Dad saw this as a new beginning for them .
Mum and Dad celebrated Penny and Derek and Frances periodic returns to "Blighty".
Penny became a second Mum to our two eldest sons who visited and stayed with her and Derek in Oakville. The boys spoke often and warmly about Penny.
Later on, my wife Chris and our youngest son (Jonathan) visited and stayed with them for a while before Jonathan went off to University here in "Blighty" .Once again their memories of Penny's love and hospitality were spoken of regularly.
I could write much more, but I'll finish now with this message -
"In life, who we were and who we became, was, in the main, largely influenced by those who loved us. We loved you.
God Bless you Pen, rest in peace.
Malc and family.

I remember the excitement of going round to Grandpa and Nanny Brown's house whenever you and Uncle Del came over from Canada to visit when I was a child. Because you lived abroard you had a sort of celebraty status in my head, you always had stories to tell and I would hang off every word.
Then after my exams when I was sixteen you invited me over to stay in Canada. You had lots planned for me, more than I could ever have wished for, a road trip that took us from Canada all the way to South Carolina at Hilton Head. I still have the diary that I kept every day.
I am going to miss you so much, you will always be in my heart and thoughts.
Love Always.
