When Debbie married I hoped that we would continue to have strong ties. I needn't have worried. Jim was wonderful and accepting. I was a part off their family from day one and when Richard came along so was he.
I never heard him raise his voice. Deb and the girls were his life and passion. He was all about family.
He loved his photography. Jim took the pictures and Deb documented them. What a team they made. Jim was a great sportsman-golf, hockey and baseball. When he had to give up his sports he never complained. He was a great soccer mom and often talked about the girls games and the soccer road trips the family took.
He loved his granddaughter and always showed us the latest photos. He was proud of her. I never thought that I would see Jim and Deb having dogs at their place. The girls got dogs and when they visited so did the dogs. Part of the family, no problem.
It is hard to sum up a wonderful man who was in my life for over 35 years. Words can't do it. I have wonderful memories of their wedding, two births, trips, dances, cards and quiet times. I can play those memories like a movie in my mind. Jim you will be missed by us and everyone who knew you.

Started our workday at the St. Catharines Public Library with some very sad news today.
A wonderful colleague and dedicated City employee was taken from us too early. Remembering him as someone who always had time and patience to help others. He was very generous in sharing his knowledge and willing to assist at any time. His payroll procedures binder still sits proudly in our office and we think of him each time we refer to it, most recently last week. He will be truly missed by the people he touched at work and in the community. Heaven must be smiling because they got a great man.
Extending deepest condolences to you, his family and prayers for healing.
