Obituary of Ella Margaret Jackson
JACKSON, Mrs. Ella Margaret, RN (née Constant/Hayes)- Died peacefully at Henley House, St Catharines, Ontario on Monday 15 February 2016. Ella was born in Timmons, Ontario on 20 September 1934 to the late William and Aileen Constant and, following her mother’s death at the age of 9, was adopted by her great uncle James and aunt Madge Hayes of Cumberland, Ontario. Predeceased by her beloved husband and true love of her life Major the Reverend Robert “Bob” Jackson, brother the Reverend Ruggles and wife Linda Constant, sisters Wealtha Constant, and Gail Willis (née Constant). Ella will be deeply missed by her son Lieutenant (RCN) the Reverend David and wife Adria Jackson of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, and her stepchildren Deborah and husband Jay Thomson of Wakefield, Quebec, and Andrew Jackson of Toronto, Ontario. She will also be missed by her granddaughter Aurelia Jackson, and step-grandsons Gavin and Sean Thomson, as well as her half-sisters Sandra Mortimer of Toronto and Lynn Frink (Lew) of Elginburg. Ella was a Registered Nurse, graduating from the Ottawa Civic Hospital in 1956. She worked many years for Dr Kelly in Ottawa, Ontario and in recent years, at the age of 70, returned to nursing part-time for Visiting Angels in St Catharines, Ontario. Central to her life was her heart’s faith in Jesus which flowed freely from her lips and was expressed untiringly in deeds of love. Caregiver to everyone she knew, Ella was a great friend to many and always such a fun person to be around. She had the gift of being able to touch all those around her with her spirit and faith. She will be very immensely missed by all nieces, nephews, friends and congregants, especially the children. Her Sunday School class meant the world to her. She loved all children so dearly and always wanted the best for everyone. Having died a blessed death, Ella is now finally reunited with Bob, and together they are numbered with the Saints in Heaven awaiting the resurrection. Thank you to all who have visited Ella over the preceding months, especially Ella’s faithful Pastor, the Reverend Kurt Lantz and members of Resurrection Lutheran Church, St Catharines. Also, a special thank you to Ella’s dear neighbour and friend Anna Froese of St Catharines who lovingly nursed her in her final days. Visitation will take place at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St, St Catharines on Thursday, 25 February at 6:00 – 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be conducted by the Reverend Kurt Lantz on Friday, 26 February at 11:00 am at Grace Lutheran Church, 213 Linwell Rd, St Catharines. Interment will follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery, 432 Queenston St, St Catharines at 12:15 pm. For maps and directions see www.georgedartefuneralhome.com.
