Deepest sympathies go out to Jerry's immediate family ... as well as the huge rowing family that Jerry "adopted" ! Many a time were humourous and entertaining stories shared about people, places, and things over the years during rowing get-togethers, particularly at Buffalo West Sides and Henley ! May your boat accelerate through the clouds in the heavens ! You will be missed !

the rowing community has lost a wonderful member of it's ranks.
I, like the members of the West Side Rowing Club of Buffalo, morn his passing.
where there was rowing you could always find a friend in Jerry. he would help out an oarsmen or oarswomen when ever need, on matter what Club they belonged to.
the West Side members enjoyed his company and humor when he would attend events in Buffalo.
he will be missed, but not forgotten.

I went to visit Jerry at the hospital but found I was one hour too late. I have many great memories of Jerry as my coach. He coached me in 1970 and again in 1976 experiences I will never forget. Truly a great man that will be missed.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of Jerry who was an important member of our St.Catharines Rowing Club family and the entire rowing community. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. We knew Jerry for many, many years through the rowing fraternity. It was always a highlight to see Jerry at Henley and catch up. He was so sweet and very kind. When we had a death in the family, Jerry showed up for the funeral service. I said, "Jerry, you never even knew my brother so I am touched that you came to his funeral." Jerry replied, "No, I didn't know him, but I know you, and this is what friends are for" I have never forgotten that and it meant so much to us. But that was typical Jerry. His friendly face and great sense of humour will be sadly missed by all who knew him. We pass along our deepest sympathy to his family.

So sorry to see Gerry depart . A great friend from the time we were teenagers and I remember gathering a group on Saturdays to go to the Tee Pee's junior hockey games and through the many years we were together at the rowing club both at the club and training and regattas and also the many times we travelled to regattas in Canada and the United States. Gerry will be missed very much but never forgotten.

Gerry was very committed to the world of rowing as well as his role as instructor at Niagara College and always had a story to share about those aspects of his life, but if you really wanted to see him light up you just needed to ask him about his grandchildren - he loved to share those stories the most.
We will miss him.
Our deepest condolences to his family.

Uncle Gerald was a man I admired. I admired him for his unwavering commitment to family, for his dedication to community service, and for the high standards he set for himself in his many recreational and professional endeavors. In his dealings with others, especially the youth he mentored and the students he taught, he conveyed high expectations for achievement together with acceptance and forbearance.
In the final years of his sister, Helen's, life, Uncle Gerald reached out to her to provide companionship and untold acts of kindness and assistance when she was hampered by the effects of a stroke. I will always be grateful for his generosity to my mother.
Debbie, Joanna and Joe, you have lost a caring father. The rest of us have lost a special person who gave so much of himself to others. I am saddened by the loss. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time.
