Obituary of John Martin Habuda
HABUDA, John Martin
Peacefully passed away with the love and support of his wife, Leona, on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at the St. Catharines General Hospital, in his 80th year. John will be forever loved and missed by his wife and best friend Leona (nee Vaillancourt), of 35 years. Predeceased by his parents Christina and Martin Habuda. Loving step-son-in-law to Irene (the late Steve) Vaillancourt. John is survived by his sister Barbara (Hazen) Davidson and their families, Jay, Paige and her son Morgan (great- nephew). Dear nephew of Larry Rapchuk. John will be dearly missed by his sisters-in-law Jackie (Joe) Henderson, Giselle (Rick) Cadieux, Lise (Dan) Adshead and by his nieces and nephews; Johnny (Lidan) Fournier, Tara (John) Kerwin, Casey (Erin) Adshead, Adam, Melissa and Katrina Adshead and Patrick Cadieux. Special great-uncle of Abby LeBlanc and Marin Kerwin. With a degree in Industrial Engineering, John was President and General Manager of Lamco International Die Cast Inc., Wellington Street, Thorold, for 42 years. His greatest passions were for model railroading, which spanned over 60 years, and for sailing. He will be greatly remembered for his kindness, generosity (to a fault) and for his storytelling. In accordance with John's wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, on Monday, February 15th from 7-9 p.m. and on Tuesday, February 16th from 10:30- 12 p.m.; with words of remembrance shared at 11:30 a.m. An inurnment will be held at Victoria Lawn Cemetery, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Kidney Foundation.
