My condolences to John's family. John and I were best friends for years, starting on Louisa St in St Catharines. John lived at 27 Louisa and I at 45. We went to Memorial School together. John developed rheumatic fever and he would attend Sick Kids, Toronto. I then would sit beside his bed and read lessons to him at home. In their basement, Martin made Industrial Indicators and die cast items, then moved the operation to the building in their backyard. John's mother, we called Aunt Tina. I remember the cap pistols made at the Last Minute Manufacturing Company setup originally in Thorold. I had a train set which my Grandfather gave me and John would spend hours playing with it. When their basement was freed up, we moved the small train set to their basement. My mother used to visit Tina in her apartment on Ontario St. in latter years. I too am an Industrial Engineer and was encouraged by John. I used to see John regularly in Thorold, but as time past I worked in other areas of Ontario and only by chance saw his obituary today. I too am in my 80th year. .............Rest In Peace my friend, John.
David Dwyer.
