Obituary of Irene Whiteside
WHITESIDE, IRENE (nee Flynn)
Passed away with her family by her side on March 8, 2015 at the United Mennonite Home in Vineland at age 84. Mom's kind dedication towards helping family and friends was matched with her beautiful smile, sparkling eyes and Irish wit. She will be dearly missed by daughters Gail Whiteside and Connie (Howard) Groves, brother Edwin Flynn, grandson Clayton (Jessica) Sanders, great granddaughter Savannah, step grandchildren Chad, Kandice and Dakota, great grandson Logan. Predeceased by husband Harry (1997), sisters Eleanor Selzler (2013), Phyllis Bernas (1999) and sister-in-law Connie Whiteside (2014). Irene lived a full and vibrant life. Originally from Moosomin, Saskatchewan, where she taught in a one room school house, Mom came to Niagara in 1953. In the seventies she worked with Junior Achievement of Niagara and kept J.A. awards nights and conferences running smoothly. She worked diligently with Cartier Wines in the eighties as Executive Assistant. Thank you to staff of U.M.H. for their thoughtful care in recent years. In accordance with Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 169 St. Paul Cres., on Friday, March 13, 2015 at 11am. Arrangements are entrusted to GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL - (905) 937 4444. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Salvation Army would be appreciated.
