My condolences to your family. I found out about Nick's passing on the web tonight, while updating my Gehring Family tree. I "met" Nick a few years ago, while doing some family genealogy - we talked on the phone at length last year when visiting family in Ajax. We were supposed to meet Nick but he was not feeling well so the trip did not happen in person - it was wonderful meeting him on the phone however. I was hoping to visit him this year when taking our annual trip to Ajax. I am so sorry I did not have the privilege of meeting him face-to-face. He was so passionate about his family history! Rest in peace, dear Nick.

I'm very sorry to here of Nick's passing. Unfortunately I just found out this morning that he has left us. I had the pleasure of working with Nick at the Toronto office of Industry Canada in the late 80's and he was always a good friend. We shared common interests in areas such as communications, computers and industrial archeology
We were able to keep in touch after Nick retired through our network of retired regional engineering friends. I was looking forward to seeing Nick again this summer - I guess that won't be happening now. I will miss our many interesting and insightful discussions over the years.
My condolences to the family at this time of your loss.

Hello,
We knew Nick from work. I just learned the news a few minutes ago. Your Uncle was a source of much information and spirited debate over the years. I can imagine what your family has experienced. My heartfelt sorrow at your loss.
I am going to really miss "Uncle" Nick in our various and endless email debates. We nicknamed him "Uncle" as a humorous acknowledgement of his vast knowledge and life experience.
One day I hope we can all renew those debates again.
