Obituary of Natalie Appelt

Appelt, Natalie - Passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 7th 2011, at King Gardens, Mississauga, in her 97th year. Beloved wife of the late David (1996), dear mother of the late Jane Appelt (2005), Timothy Appelt and his wife Jeanne Duperreault of Mississauga, loving grandmother of Matthew David. She was predeceased by her brothers Fred and Adam and sisters Susan, Mary, Molly and Caroline. Natalie was a registered nurse, and became an avid gardener, who helped start and supplement many gardens in Saskatoon and St. Catharines with her seeds, cuttings and bulbs. Natalie was an active volunteer with The Red Cross for over 30 years, in Saskatoon and St Catharines serving in many capacities including as President of the St. Catharines Branch. In February 1992 The Canadian Red Cross Society honoured Natalie for her lifetime contribution by inducting her as a Member of the Order of the Red Cross. Mrs. Appelt was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, a former district president for Manitoba and Saskatchewan LWML, serving her church in Saskatoon and St. Catharines for many years. Family and friends will be received at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., on Sunday from 2-5 pm. A funeral service will be celebrated at Grace Lutheran Church, 213 Linwell Rd. on Monday at 11am with visiting at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment in Victoria Lawn Cemetery. If desired memorial donations may be made to Canadian Red Cross, Lutheran Seminary Worship Fund or charity of choice.
