I just recently learned of Father Curley's death, about seven years later. I remember him while I attended St. Denis in St. Catharines. He was so tall, he needed to lower his head before entering the classroom. He was so good with the kids, but was popular with everyone. He could really relate to the kids like no other. I appreciated this many years later when I got older and happened to attend mass at St. Denis, and there he was. He used to drive a small blue car, I think it was a Vauxhall, and could not believe he could fit in it. In any event, he was a valuable addition to this earth, and touched so many lives in the many ways that really matters.

Dear Father Curley: I thank you for all you did for our family. I am very sorry I was not able to visit you when you were hospitalized in St. Catharines General. My father was very ill. He died June 26th 2010.
Your determination to ride your bicycle down farmland roads in your robe was inspiring. Your piano skills kept me motivatied for a very long time. Especially the music you lent me for the Alley Cat Song. It is still an inspiration as are the hhappy memories of church, religion, and life that you left behind. Thank You for being our community Priest and sharing with us your respect for humanity and your love of life.

A Great Teacher
Father Curley often visited my home as a little girl in Port Colborne, out in the country. One particular visit has always been remembered by me and will be forever. Being the youngest of 7 children, I often felt left out of the activities that the older kids would partake in, because I was "too young". One day, when my older siblings were having a great time playing Monopoly, I was crying because they wouldn't let me play because I didn't know how to count money. Then, Father Curley showed up. He asked me why I was upset. After I explained, Father Curley wasted no time in gathering some monopoly money and taught me within minutes how to count it, and how to play the game. He was so gentle and calming and funny and I will forever remember him. I was able to visit him as an adult, many years later, and I was very happy to tell him of that impact he had on my life. Rest well Father Curley.

I'm usually very familair with social media, and yet for some reason I've been unable to post a reflection of sorts. Thankful, for having celebrated the Sacrament of the Sick and Holy Anointing with Father Paul last week before Divine Mercy Sunday, May 1st. Got to know Father Paul through our 'weekly clergy gatherings each saturday night.' He was a good and faithful priest- he now merits the rewards of eternal life after the words of St.Paul: 'You fought the good fight, you won the race, good and faithful servant, now enter into the joy of your Lord.' Welcome home, good and faithful servant priest.
Love and prayers, your brother priest. Christopher+

My deepest sympathies to the Curley family. Father Paul Curley was a dear friend to me. He was a very kind and caring priest and helped me in difficult times.
He was always fun to visit with when he played piano, did one of his magic tricks or had something humorous to say. It was very comforting talking to him. He was a spiritual inspiration in my life and strengthened my faith. I will miss him.

Although we are away for his wake and funeral we are with you in spirit - praying for Fr. Paul and yourselves. The message of Easter is the promise of life eternal. This was Fr. Father Curley has been in my life since I was born. My mother was at St. Michaels School in Niagara on the Lake in the earliest years of his teaching career and they remained very good friends to her death in 2006. He is the greatest example of what we are taught in our Christian education and faith. My life has been touched by this man in so many positive ways that I could not begin to count - his gentle manner, faith, humor, thoughtfulness have been a constant inspiration. I will never forget him. One less angel on earth - one more in heaven!

Lakeshore Catholic Presence
I am a former student of Lakeshore Catholic. What I will always remember of Fr. Paul is how he was in the hallway every morning saying good morning to the students as they walked in. No matter how gloomy the day, he had a smile and a greeting for you. So if you were in a mood, his cheery personality would brighten your spirits. He knew almost every student by name. His door was always open and I would often visit him during my spares or lunch period.
My favourite memory was traveling to many outings and events in Toronto. One such event was our History trip to Medieval Times. I never heard a person cheer and laugh so much and get involved with the events. You had an impact on my life Fr. Paul.
Fr. Paul was a mentor, a teacher, a listener and a friend.
My thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family.

Our Son's Funeral
We will always remember how kind and comforting Father Paul was to our family when our precious 3 year old son died. At the time in 2000 Father Paul was an active member of Michael J Brennan School. I always found his ways with children so heart warming and gentle. When our son Andrew died, I knew right away that I wanted Father Paul to lead our son's funeral. He wasn't our parish priest at that time, but I felt drawn to him and knew in my heart that he was the priest I needed at this very difficult time. When I asked Father Paul, he was so very kind to agree to do this for our family. The funeral was so uplifting and beautiful due to Father Paul's faithful words of widsom, compassion and understanding. Everyone who attended talked about what a wonderful homily he gave in Andrew's memory. For years to come, whenever Father Paul saw us, he was always certain to ask about our family and our daughter. He told me that Andrew's funeral was one of the the most difficult he ever had to do. He was an incredible man with a heart of gold. He will be truly missed by so many people. I am sure that he is side by side with my son, getting to know him a little better. God Bless you Father Paul and thank you for being a pillar of strength in our lives during the most difficult time we have ever had to face.

A compassionate man - March 2006
It was March of 2006 that my beloved Aunt Bonnie who lived in Sudbury had died. At the time I was very ill and could not attend her funeral. This just absolutely crushed me. So instead Fr Paul came to my house and we set her picture on a table with flowers and candles. We had all my friends come over and we read bible passages. He read the gospel and said several prayers. My boyfriend Jeff played hymns on his bassoon. This took place at the same time as her funeral was taking place. It was a lovely memorial service for her in my home. I told fond stories of her to everyone present. It was such a lovely tribute to my Aunt Bonnie and I totally felt so comforted at such a difficult time and no longer felt bad that I couldnt make it to Sudbury. All thanks to Fr Paul arranging and leading this wonderful memorial service for her in my home. God Bless him. This is just one story of the kind caring things he would do.

My deepest sympathy to the Curley family. The loss of Fr Paul is so very devastating to me. He was a dear dear friend for many years. Fr Paul was so very caring, compassionate, fun loving and a great source of inspiration to my faith. He helped me get through some very difficult times over the last several years. I have wonderful memories of times spent with him. His piano playing for me gave me much joy. No matter how bad life got for me he was able to make me see hope and the good in life and put a smile on my face. I will miss him so much. A piece of my heart is missing. He is surely one of God's Angels now. His kindness will never be forgotten. God Bless him and all of his family.
