Polak, (Leach) Irene Marjorie
Irene was born on August 8, 1921 at Drumheller, AB and died Saturday, May 13, 2006 at the Hotel Dieu- Shaver Hospital, St. Catharines, ON.
She is survived by her son Ken Leach and his wife Sally, a daughter Gwendolyn Cooper-Haechtel and her husband Manfred and her brother Kenneth Burton and his wife Faye. She was predeceased by her parents Lillian and Cecil Burton, brother Claude Burton and sister Margaret Kusznier. She was the proud Grandmother of six grandchildren: Dwayne (Gayatri Ramesethu) Leach of Burlington, Cynthia (Ron) Roberge of St. Catharines, and Lilly, John, Rosie and Patrick all of California, and grandmother to Mike Krawchuk of St. Catharines. She is also survived by ten great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Irene was a longtime employee of General Motors of Canada and worked as a tool stamper in the Ontario Street tool room until her retirement. Irene was a member of Facer Street Baptist Church.

In accordance with her wishes, immediate cremation has taken place.
Irene's family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Friday, May 19th from 7-9pm. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 20th at 11am in the funeral home chapel. Inurnment will be held at a later date. Donations to the HotelDieu-Shaver Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
