Something my Nanny said to me when I was young was "Christopher, never let anyone make you weak." This, to me, is a testimony to how Anita Kolbuc lived her life. She would not be made weak. Even when she was sick she would refuse things that could help her in the long-run, because they would make her weak in the moment.
She hated Doctors. She wouldn't accept someone telling her that she has a flaw; a sickness; a weakness. She was always in control of her life and nobody could convince her otherwise. This is something I truly hope passed down to me. The ability to grow, to evolve, to feel good, and to remain in control, even against the world. This is Anita's strength. This is a piece of my Nanny I know, without doubt, is immortal. I see it in my Mom, and in my Sister, and it is in them that it will continue.
So, even now in her death, I refuse to find weakness. Instead, in her life, I will find strength.
