While it has been many years since we last saw each other, I remember with fondness the times we shared and the fun we had with OSCA and as part of the Brock Guidance Program with Bruce, Al, George, Sid and families. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I was sorry to hear of Ivan's passing. Although we have lost touch over the years I remember the many contributions he made to OSCA during his years as a member and as a part of the executive. We could always count on his commitment and great sense of humour. He will be missed.

To the Family of Ivan Foster
I have just received the news of the passing of Ivan who was a colleague of mine through my association with the Ontario School Counsellors' Association of which, like Ivan, I was a President of OSCA in 1974-75.
Ivan was a very special "Gentle-Man" who was highly-respected in both his professional and community life, for which we give thanks.
Kindly accept our sympathies to each member of the Family.

To the family of Ivan Foster:
I would like you to know how sorry I am for the loss of your husband and father, Ivan Foster. My brother was Ward Cornwell, he passed away three years ago. Ward was a teacher at the St. Catharines Collegiate and spoke very fondly of Ivan. I also on a few occasions have met your husband/father and he was very polite and friendly to me. I pray for you all and that you will always remember the happy memories that you had with Ivan and remember that sometime soon you will be with him.
Sincerely,
Sue Chisholm (Cornwell)

Craig and Karen and Family,
While I didn't know your dad personally, Craig, I know he must have been a wonderful role model for you and your children. You are all kind, generous people. I trust you will recall the beauty of many of the events you shared with your dad over the years. I also hope his stories will be cherished for years to come. History (his story) is valuable...for his grandchildren...and their children...
Being out of town, I would have liked to have been at the funeral, but I will say an extra prayer for all of you, your mom and family as I silently recall going through this passage myself...not so long ago. God's time is never "our time".
Hugs,
Sandra

Dear Family of Ivan Foster
We are sorry we could not make it from Muskoka to the funeral. Re both remember Ivan's smiling face. I had a lot of contact with him due to OSCA and Peer Helping in Ontario. My husband and I are both past-presidents of OSCA and so we also have great memories of Ivan from those days. We will miss him and we thank you on behalf of all OSCA and Peer Helpers for sharing him with us as he worked to help teenagers have a better life.

May this note in some small way express my condolences to you Mrs. Foster and the family regarding the sudden death of Mr. Foster. I was a student of Mr. Foster's back in 1962. We met on a few occasions through the years. He was a fine gentlemen and a role model for any student. He will be missed.

Dear Orlean, Craig, Karen and families:
Ivan was a very special mentor and friend to me for over 30 years. Lorna and I are very saddened by this sudden news that we received last night. Over the past 24 hours many memories have been played over in my mind. Basketball at Collegiate, golfing with George Kalagian and Ivan, Joe's wedding, rye and cokes on Lakeshore road with both of you and many more.
For me Ivan was more than a basketball coach (which in itself played a huge role in my early life). He tried to help me find a job, encouraged me to pursue my dream to be a doctor, was my reference many times including my application for medical school and was an example of someone who was a gentleman and truly cared for the many students who passed through his life.
I will miss him as you will.
I am sorry that I will not be able to see him off to the great golf course in the sky on Monday in St. Catharines.
To you Orlean and Craig, Karen and your famiies, our sincerest condolences.
As Always,
Fred and Lorna

My day was saddened by the totally unexpected news of Ivan's passing. During my ten years at Collegiate, Ivan was an inspiration and a constant support.
His steady hand and fierce sense of fairness and tolerance inspired us all. He loved his students, the Collegiate staff, his basketball players and his Gyro Club members. His warmth and honesty extracted efforts far beyond what was expected.
He and Orleans were truly Mr. & Mrs Collegiate. Ivan you will be sorely missed.
