Erin,Adam,Ilyse and Mrs.Norton,
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your father and husband. I did not know Mr.Norton very well, but I do know that he raised three amazing children who I have been lucky enough to know. I remember him helping me move my (very LARGE) bed between houses in Waterloo. Mr.Norton was trying to sound intimidating but you could tell by the sparkle in his eye that he was happy to help. I have heard many Norton family stories and I know how much he is loved and will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family until your sad thoughts turn to happy memories.
xoxoKathleen

As I sit here with unstoppable tears falling down my face, I cannot stop thinking of the pain all of you must be in at this time. I wish I could somehow make it all go away. I will remember Uncle Barry (or Uncle Beery as Chris liked to call him) as gruff, sometimes even scary, proud, strong, dedicated, stubborn, hard working and a loving member of this family. Family was very important to him and he was so proud of his wonderful kids! I will remember him often. The only thing I find comfort in at this time, and I hope you do too, is that he is now at peace with the rest of his family and we will see them all again. They are all having a great big party to welcome him! If any of you need someone to talk to, some dogs to pet, a drive somewhere that involves the highway or anything else at all, please know that I am here for you.
With Deepest Sympathy,
Farrow

The warm smile on Barry's face exactly like the one in the photograph of him in his fireman's uniform on this memorial website is what I will remember of Barry...
He helped Susan and I to build rooms in our basement of our new house usually with that smile no matter how many times we changed our minds...
He had a great smile that went with his caring personality.
I sure hope he is laughing and joking now with his Mom & Dad and Sister and Blair too...
He was a proud father(justly so) and a caring husband while working very hard..
He sure did not deserve to leave us so soon.
Love Ron & Susan Mascoe.....

No words can justify the loss of a loved one. Times like these is when family and friends are able to pull together to realize the truth strength of the relationships. From what I know of Erin, the Norton family has an extremely strong bond. Barry was a strong man with a kind heart, he was willing to help me without ever meeting me. Im sure he has touched many individuals throughout his life, and made his family proud. Memories of a man like this will not tarnish or fade. Take comfort in the fact that you loved and were loved by an exceptional man. All my best wishes.

On behalf of my fellow officials with Lakeshore Football Officials Association please accept my sincere prayers and feelings for a good friend and crew mate. I had the pleasure of working with Barry on many occasions over the years, including this fall at Burlington Central High School. His dedication to the sport of officiating football will never be forgotten. He always gave 110% on and off the field and will be sadly missed. May the support of your family and friends help each of you through your grief. God Bless.

Dear Adam and family: I cannot imagine what range of emotions you are experiencing right now, but I offer my sincerest support and fondest memories of the times I met Mr. Norton. On numerous occasions he (and his wife) were kind enough to open the doors of their home to a bunch of crazy music/theatre teenagers. He instilled remarkable values and strength in his children, and we were all blessed to have met him.

Dear Kathy, Adam and Michelle, Erin and Ilyse,
Our deepest sympathies to you and your family. Barry was not only a great husband, father and firefighter, we will remember him as a great neighbour too. He was helpful to his neighbours, using his many skills to do things like build fences, dig out tree stumps for us and even chased the racoons out of Mrs. Rolfe's chimney. We always felt a little more secure on Oswald Avenue knowing Barry was next door. Barry will be greatly missed.
Know you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Kathy, Adam, Michelle, Erin and Ilyse...I am very sorry for your loss. I am honoured to have known and worked with Barry over the last year as a dispatcher. Here is a little story that I will always remember him by and one that I hope makes you smile.
As a new alarm operator, Barry liked to tell me that it was my fault that fires were on an increase. For this reason he nicknamed me "Jinxy". I don't recall him ever calling me Cathy. On several occasions I would watch him (from the big glass windows in the alarm room) as he rushed down the stairs to a call. Sometimes he would glance in the room, point his finger at me and smile.
I loved his sense of humour and I will miss him.
Sincerely, Cathy Presse

Uncle Barry was a real man's man. He loved football, Jack Daniels, building things and fighting fires! But he also loved dressing up as Santa for the children at Christmas, putting smiles on everyone's face, telling jokes and, of course, his wife and children. I remember him most sitting at Aunt Gloria's house on the big arm chair with a grin on his face and a glass of jack Daniels in his hand. He would sit there quietly and listen to everyone's stories and tell a few jokes, and share some stories of his own. He was extremely proud of all of his wife and children and their many accomplishments! One of the last memories I have of Uncle Barry was at Adam and Michelle's wedding. You could see how proud and truly happy he was that day just by looking at his smiling face. It is one of my greatest memories of Uncle Barry and I will always remember him dressed proudly in his Fire Fighter uniform with all of his friends and family there to share this wonderful highlight in his life. I wish I had the chance to get to know him better, he will truly be missed.
Love, Brett Cook

Mrs. Norton, Adam/Michelle, Erin, Ilyse- Words could never accurately convey my deepest sympathy. Erin, having been your friend for the last 20 years, we have shared many memories- laughed and cried. Through the years, I have also gotten to know and love your family. I remember the baseball years that we spent with each other-your parents would sit with my parents and watch us play. Keep all your memories close to your heart.
I know there will be many tough days in the next coming days, months and even years. But please know that I am here for you - whenever you need to talk, cry and laugh. May you find peace, comfort and strength in Christ- Thinking and praying for you all, Mel and Mark

From reading the condolences about Barry not much is needed to be said of what kind of a man he was. As we all can read from his family and friends he sure was loved. I remember him from work as we had many conversations about computers on the phone, I do regret not getting over to have that beer and the BBQ with him as he had offered. I also remember him at the baseball park. I had sent out an email asking everyone from work that I needed a Santa suit and I bet you can guess who the first person was to reply to my request.
