Dear Anne:
We were deeply saddened to hear of Harvey's passing. It's such a shame that we didn't come to know him under happier circumstances, but it was an honour and a privilege to know him in any. Goldie too, mourns the loss of his friendship and company. It was difficult for all of us to see that bed empty again, but great consolation to know that Harvey's suffering had come to an end.
He was a gentle, kind, and brave spirit. What a great blessing that the two of you found each other!
I know how difficult it is to watch someone so dearly loved slip slowly away from you, but we have often commented on your exemplary devotion and courage. Harvey was a very lucky man!
One of the last things I said to my mother was that there was peace in knowing that she had been such a "good girl". While I truly believe that goodness is its own reward, there are times when knowing that you have done your best to be kind, patient, gentle, fair and loving, at the end of our lives, it is the greatest comfort. I'm sure he will live in your fondest memories until you are reunited once again in the place where all pure hearts dwell.
