Obituary of Carmella Josephine Redman

REDMAN, Carmella "Carmen"- Passed gently at home and surrounded by her family into the arms of her Saviour after a valiant four year battle with cancer. Carmen, in her 72nd year was a devoted, loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. Beloved spouse to Lawrence for 52 years. Mother to Kevin (Liliana) Redman, Linda (Dr. Jerry) Kovar, Kolleen (Ken) Forstinger. Nanna will be sadly missed and lovingly remember by Alanna, Alicia, Kevin Jr. Redman, Jeff and Matt Kovar, Chris and Jenn Forstinger. Carm was predeceased by her parents Anthony and Josephine Presto and siblings Mary, Santa, and Tony. Survived by her sisters Jennie Zaroda and Rose Gallagher. Her joyful and indomitable spirit combined with her sense of fun will be greatly missed by her countless close friends and extended family. Carm was a valued and hard working member of the community including active memberships at St. Julia†™s Church and choir, Star of the Sea Parish and Star Quilters, The Catholic Woman†™s League (55yrs), Harmony Niagara, Pride of Niagara, Woman†™s Support Network, Cub Scouts, The Heritage Quilters Guild, The Liberal Party of Canada, Autism Ontario and The Heart and Stroke Foundation. Carmen was a hairstylist and operated her own salon. She attended Brock University for continued education in Italian studies. Carmen and Lawrence traveled the world including several hiking tours with fellow members of the Bruce Trail Club, cruising the Caribbean and South Pacific, and religious pilgrimages. She loved to garden and proudly created a majestic sacred space at her home for her family to experience in her absence. Carm†™s vivacious flair for living and loving enabled her to continue to live life to the fullest while embracing family and friends along her journey. Mrs. Redman is resting at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., until Wednesday at 10:00 a.m.. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in St. Julia Church, 251 Glenridge Avenue, on Wednesday, February 20, 2008, at 11:00 a.m.. Following mass, rite of committal will take place at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Public visiting will be held in the funeral home on Monday, from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m.. Vigil prayers will be recited Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. If desired, expressions of sympathy may be made to the charity of one's choice.
