Dear Lawrence, Kolleen, Ken, Chris and Jenn,
I was very very sad to get the message that Carmen passed away. As always you are always in my mind and in my thoughts and the last year I have especially had Carmen very close to my heart. I still remember very well when I first met Carmen in 1986, the first time I was in St. Catharines. She was always so full of life, joy and energy and she was so warm hearted. I feel blessed that I got to know her, but at the same I feel sorrow that we did not meet since a long time. Time goes to fast and we have to woreship and use everyday.
Lawrence and Kolleen, my closest thought are with you and I will light a candle tonight for Carmen here in Stuttgart.
Yours
David

Dear Lawrence and family, We were so sorry to hear of Carm's passing. She was an extraordinary woman, with a sense of humour and great kindness to match. Once you met Carmen, you could never forget her. I remember a few haircuts when I was in my early teens where we'd get laughing and the next thing I knew my trim turned into a crew cut! " What are you worried about, it'll grow back!" Then we'd start laughing again. My Mom loved Carmen dearly, and I know how much Mary and all her dear choir friends will miss her. I think that's what will stay with us is the warm, happy feeling that remained after having spent time with Carmen. The heavenly choirs have a new gem, and will have much laughter to share. We will always hold her in our hearts. God bless, Trudy and Jim

Dear Lawrence and family:
Thank you so much for informing me of Carmen's death. May she rest in peace! The first scripture passage that came to mind for me was from Paul to Timothy when Paul said: " I have fought the good fight, I have run the race, I have kept the faith, and now I go to collect the crown of righteousness that awaits me." Carm has certainly done all that. It has not been a long acquaintance with you and Carm but certainly a memorable one. Our meeting in Panama and my visit with you at your home with my parents a number of years back. She was a faith and spirit -filled woman and I pray that she now enjoys the fruits of her love and faithfulness to God and his Church.
Please be assured of my prayers and know that I will remember Carm and all of you in my Mass this weekend.
God Bless and may your hearts be filled with peace at this difficult time.
Fr. Rick

Dear Carmen's Family, I met Carmen through the gift of song. She was a Harmony sister in more ways than one. I laughed at her zany antics and admired her ability to live life her way, even when she was told "no way". She showed us all didn't she! The small time that I was privileged enough to have shared with Carmen has left an impression to last a life time. Please take comfort in knowing that though her physical body is no longer here with us her spirit lives on in the hearts of many. Her crazy antics, kind words, her generosity her laughter and her tears but most of all her example.
Thank you Harmony Sister for your spiritual emails and the brief time I knew you. And to Carm's family, may God Bless and comfort you.
In the spirit of Love, Light and Laughter,
Laurie Kirk -
Pride of Niagara Harmony Chorus

Thanks to friends and the internet, we have just learned that Carmen passed away. How sad. We are wintering here in Florida and even this far away, we feel the loss deeply. She was a great spirit and we knew her not only at Star of the Sea church, but through the Barbershop Chorus singers and the Gals group The Angels. Sympathy from us both.

I'm so sorry for the loss of a dear and loving friend, Carmen. I had a baby in the Fall and really wanted her to meet him. Unfortunately, with the progression of her illness, it never came about and I am so sorry for that. She had such a vest for life and we could all learn from that. That is the legacy she has really left all of us, to live life to the fullest and achieve all we aspire to. Some people learn this only when they become ill. Not our Carm, she had always done so and in fact sped things up when diagnosed. I've never met anyone who travelled so frequently when ill. I feel privileged to have known her, and sung with her all of these years in the Pride of Niagara. You'll always be in my heart.
Love you, Melodie GW Chalmers

Dear Lawrence and family, I am sorry to hear about Carmen passing. She was a wonderful lady! She was my best friend at church. She was the one i always saw on the alter when father would hand out the body of Christ. She was always happy. She was always brave and had a positive attitude. But now i know that Carmen is in a happy place and she is free and has no more pain! And i can always pray to her and she will hear me. Because when i went over to your house that one day and brought her that teddy bear she told me when she dies she will always take good care of me, and help me out in sticky situations and now i know that i have someone to pray to, other than God. She is my guardian angel, free, happy, wonderful! from: Norah Chaput age 11:)

Lawrence - please accept our deepest sympathy on the loss of Carm. We loved her spirit and sense of adventure which served her well in the last few years - we saw her on Mac's wedding day just a couple of days before Donald was diagnosed. Later we chatted about living every day to the fullest and it seems strange that we would lose our loved ones so close together. Knowing that she loved life and would want others to keep living it to the the max helps us in our daily struggle. All the best to you and the members of your family.

Dear Lawrence, Kevin, Linda, Koleen, and family,
My heart is broken too. You know how much I loved Carmela, and how much fun we had together over the past ten years or so.
She was a wonderful friend: funny, generous, kind, irreverent and so much more.
As one ages friends become more and more important..and their loss is even more difficult to accept.
I shall miss her terribly, as I know you all will. She loved her family, was so proud of her grandchildren, and she enjoyed her dogs so very much.
May you rest in peace, mia amica.
