To the family of Murray Barry. We were very saddened to hear that Murray had recently passed away. Our sympathy goes to Murray's family at this very difficult time. It was a great privilege for us to have known him. In particular, we recall the very happy times spent with Murray and Lisette in Belgium and Ottawa. Murray was a very kind gentleman with a heartwarming smile and we will always remember him. Regrettably we will not be able to attend the service being held in memory of Murray, but our hearts and thoughts will be with you. Anita and Charlie Brunger

Dear Aunt Lisette, Debbie, Rick, Corinne, Mark and Family
It is with a sad heart that I'm writing these words. I will always remember Uncle Murray as a fine man, a man with a strong personnality. I adored listening to his stories about the war.
You were my Uncle in Canada, a far and distant country for us, but lucky for us you liked Belgium so we had the oppertunity to see you regularly. I will miss you, it's the small things of life that will remind me of you. Earlier today I was coming back from France in my truck when I was thinking about you when I passed the restaurant where we had a coffee a couple of years ago when we came back from Vimy. Every time I pass Amsterdam airport I will remember the times I drove overthere to bring you to Belgium. Looking forward to see you and my Aunt.
We must thank you for the fact that we live in a free country today. Without you and your fellow soldiers we would speak German today.
We want to express our feelings of support to the family.
The Jacobs family.

I will miss you dearly Papa. Thank you for all of your love and support over the years, I'm not quite sure how I'll ever land good job in the government without your letter writing skills. I also don't know how I will last until work starts again without your random allowances.
Over the years I have learned a great deal from you about the war, proper work ethics, and about how to stand up for myself. Although I learned a lot of things from you I also know you learned a few things from me. Some of what you learned from me was how to properly use the drive-through at McDonalds, how to work you're DVD player, and to trust mine and Dylan's opinion when it comes to the chicken wings at Pizza Hut. I will forever miss sharing Joe Louis' with you and our outings to Swiss Chalet. You and your stories will be missed by all.
Love Britny xo

Dear Aunt Lisette, Debbie, Rick, Corinne, Mark and families. We were very sorry to hear about Uncle Murray. He was a true gentleman. I have a couple of little stories, I wanted to tell. I remember having a few conversations with him, before I went into the Army. He never boasted about his military service in WWII. I was young and didn't really know what to ask him. So he gave me a few pointers, and off I went. Well, let me tell you, there were times during basic training, where I wasn't sure if I could get through it. Uncle Murray would pop into my head, before anything else. I'd think to myself. Man, Barry, you have got to toughen up...and I did and I made it. That was the kind of impact he had on me.
Years after I was out, we had a chat about the military. I had recently seen the movie, Saving Private Ryan. I asked him, if he had seen the D-day landing, in the movie. He replied " I don't have to see it, I lived it". I was blown away, here was a real life hero, right in front of me.
It was an honour, to have known him.
