Obituary of Albert Cipryk

CIPRYK, Albert The family of Albert Cipryk sorrowfully announces his passing at Hospice Niagara on September 16, 2009 at the age of 67. Left to mourn are his wife of 38 years, Margaret Jarrell, children Julie Allinotte, Jonathan and Briar Cipryk, Rachel Cipryk and Tim Robertson, and Clark Cipryk, grandson Cole Allinotte, siblings Art and wife Marg Cipryk, Rose Marie Cipryk and partner Don Alexander, Mike Cipryk and wife Betsy Tauro, Fred Cipryk and wife Valerie Matteo. Predeceased by his parents, John and Elizabeth Cipryk. Also cherished by mother-in-law Susan 'Toots' Jarrell, brothers-in-law Don and Linda Jarrell, John Jarrell and Louise Boyd, his aunt Helen Stevens, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. After exploring multiple interests and career ventures, Albert decided to pursue his strong interest in cooking professionally. He expressed his passions for food, travel and wine as chef professor at Niagara College and through his weekly column. Working and travelling in China, Thailand, England, Sri Lanka, Japan, the West Indies and Europe, Albert brought the world to his students and his readers. For all of this, those who knew him recognised that the prime focus of Albert's heart and mind was his family. The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Brian Findlay and the St. Catharines General Oncology Department, CCAC and Paramed nursing staff and support workers, Dr. Brian Kerley and the staff and volunteers of Hospice Niagara. Family and friends will be received at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St. on Thursday September 17 from 7-9 p.m. and Friday September 18 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Celebration of Albert's life will be held on Saturday September 19, 2009 at 11 a.m. in the chapel with cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations made in memory of Albert to Niagara College Student Bursaries Fund or Hospice Niagara would be appreciated by the family.
