LAGROTTERIA, Antonio "Tony"
On Wednesday, December 19th, 2012, surrounded by his loving family, Antonio "Tony" LaGrotteria peacefully passed into eternal life with God the Father. Tony was born on May 6th, 1950 in Monterroso, Calabria, Italy. Tony will forever be remembered for his warm heart and his commitment to his family. Beloved son of Antonia and the late Salvatore (1987) LaGrotteria. Much loved brother of the late Domenic (1998) and his wife Sylvana, Francesca (Frank) DeStefano, Mary, Anne, and Lino (Leda). Cherished uncle of Paolo (Sheryl), Danny (Mary-Rose), Mario (Paula), David (Melanie), David DeStefano, Claudina (Gino) Fortino, Eric and Amanda Sabatini, Alisa, Adriana, and Andrew LaGrotteria. Tony will also be fondly remembered by his great-nieces and nephews, Nicholas, Sophia, Rhys, Aubrey, Samuel, Tessa, Macie, Marcus, Joshua, Evan, Mario and Daniel. He will also be missed by dear cousins, friends and neighbours. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. M Marcaccio at the Juravinski Hospital, Dr. Yelamanchili, the onclogy and ICU staff at the St. Catharines General Hospital, Father Andrew Goodwin, Dr. Kerley, as well as all the nurses and volunteers at Hospice Niagara for their exceptional compassionate care. Tony's family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines, on Thursday, December 20th from 7-9p.m., and Friday, December 21st from 2-4p.m. and 7-9p.m. Vigil prayers will take place on Friday at 2p.m. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Alfred's Church, 272 Vine Street, on Saturday, December 22 at 11 a.m., with entombment to follow at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens, 2250 Highway 20, Fonthill. If desired, memorial contributions to Make a Wish Foundation or Hospice Niagara would be appreciated by the family.
