Nestor Lagasca

Obituary of Nestor Azares Lagasca

Passed away peacefully at St. Catharines’ Marotta Family Hospital on January 3rd at 7:45 AM. Despite being told he had only hours to live on New Year's Day, he fought courageously to remain with his family for as long as possible. At the age of 75, he was surrounded by his dearest loved ones in his final moments. He is survived by his beloved wife, Nenita Rivera Lagasca, to whom he was a devoted and loving husband. Cherished father to Vineshazel and Melissa, who were his greatest source of pride. Beloved grandpa to Aleisha, Andre, Anton, and Owen who filled his life with love, joy, and precious memories. He is also survived by his siblings Arnulfo, Zenaida, Rosalinda, Elizabeth, Oscar, and Ulysses. He is reunited in heaven with his late sister, Evangeline. Nestor met his future wife Nenita at a church in the Philippines, and that was only the start of their love story. They were married at Vigan Cathedral, the same church they initially met at, in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. They recently celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary on December 8th, marking the union they began in 1979. Both were deeply religious and active members of the Saint Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in St. Catharines. Back home in the Philippines, Nestor served as a dedicated government employee with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), where he worked diligently in public service, contributing to his community and country for many years. Nestor was a true karaoke enthusiast, and anyone fortunate enough to hear him sing would attest to the incredible power and beauty of his voice. He also had a fond love for biking, and the jokes he would always be sure to tell.
