Obituary of Domenico Antonio DiMaria
Domenico Antonio DiMaria, affectionately known as Tony, or Dad, passed away on December 25, 2024. He was a devoted husband and best friend to Kathryn DiMaria, loving father to Simon and Gillian DiMaria, and brother to Anselmo, Mario, Mike, John, Ron and Anna DiMaria. Dad was blessed to be a part of a big beautiful family that included many nieces and nephews, as well as many close friends that always felt more like family. Additionally, The Lotts were also an essential part of Dad’s life. From the beginning of his and Mom’s marriage, they loved and supported him, and he reciprocated that love and support back.
Dad was an avid lover of music and comic books. Reading and enjoying his collection of comics was one of his greatest joys, alongside playing his bass guitar and teaching himself new songs.
His infectious laugh will be heard in our memories for eternity, along with his sense of humor and mischievous energy. He was an incredibly curious and observant person. In his lifelong search to know more about the world around him, he developed irreplaceable relationships with those who saw the world as he did. Despite his soft-spoken and easy-going energy, Dad was passionate about the human condition and shared that passion for empathy, morality, and decency with everyone whom he encountered. Anyone who met Tony became brighter and more joyous after that introduction. It was impossible not to be, with a man so committed to leaving any place and any person better than how he found them.
Over and above everything, Dad was so incredibly in love with his wife and partner-in-crime. After 30 years of marriage, Mom and Dad were inseparable, whether it was traveling together, going to concerts, out for dinner, or just enjoying their home as recent empty nesters. Their love was a beacon to the rest of their family, friends, community, and even strangers whom they met in their travels. It was and is a love that we should all aspire to. A love that springs eternal. A love that transcends space and time and all earthly things. A real love, that was a privilege to witness by all who had a chance to do so.
We find immense comfort in knowing that Dad is free from the illnesses that wracked his later life. Though he was not necessarily a religious person, whatever second life he is living now he will live peacefully with his late mother Maria DiMaria, and father Mecurio DiMaria.
