Dr. Pierre Lizée

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Pierre Lizée on Dec 16, 2024 in St
Catharines, Ontario. Pierre was a beloved partner, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. Pierre
was the much loved partner of Suzanne Nicks and the cherished father of Megan (Akihiro). and
Ethan (Millie) Lizée. Born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Pierre was known for his love, commitment,
and passion for his family. He was predeceased by his parents, Conrad and Monique Lizée. He
is survived by his brother, Martin (Dominik), niece, nephew and their children, as well as his
extended family in Quebec.
Pierre was a distinguished scholar in international relations, focusing on international security,
international law, and International Relations theory. He was a professor in the Political Science
department at Brock University, in St Catharines, Ontario where he was a passionate educator,
author and mentor to his many students. Pierre was renowned for his ability to make
challenging concepts accessible and engaging. His lectures were captivating and encouraged
thoughtful discussion and deep thinking.
Pierre will be remembered for his love of music - classic rock, jazz, The Stones, The Beatles,
Bill Evans, John Coltrane, among others. He will also be remembered for playing the guitar,
enjoying nature, travelling extensively - especially in Asia, reading newspapers, wearing great
sports coats and shoes, and enjoying a good beer. Pierre was a constant and supportive
presence to his loved ones, always ready to listen, advise, help and guide.
Pierre will be deeply missed, but forever remembered in the hearts of those who loved him. His
legacy will shine brightly in all the lives he touched. Pierre Lizée’s academic contributions will
continue to inspire, shape minds and advance knowledge for years to come.
