Obituary of Gloria Ruth Annand
Gloria Ruth (Taylor) ANNAND, RN
1941 – 2024
It is with profound sadness that the family of Gloria Annand announce her passing, surrounded by family, at the NHS St. Catharines site on Monday, December 2nd, following a lengthy illness.
Gloria is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 55 years, Bill, her children Bill Jr. (Dana), Patricia (Terry) and Susanne, as well as 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents Cyril (Jack) and Iva Taylor and her sister Joyce Taylor, RN.
Gloria was raised in Hamilton, Ontario and graduated from The Mack Training School for Nurses in 1964. She was a devoted and exceptional caregiver and was employed at the St. Catharines General Hospital for over 30 years. Following her retirement from “The General”, Gloria continued to work in the Ontario Breast Screening Program and was a vocal advocate for women’s health.
In addition to being devoted to her family, Gloria was President for several years of the Mack Alumni Association as well as President of the St. Catharines chapter of the Laurier Liberal Ladies.
A very special thank you goes out to the staff at Ina Grafton Gage Village, particularly the staff of the Long Term Care unit, for the care and compassion Gloria received during her residency there.
A private family funeral is planned. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made to The Alzheimer’s Society or Niagara Ina Grafton Gage Village.
