Obituary of Odile Mary Spedaliere
ODILE SPEDALIERE
It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of Odile Spedaliere (nee Fournier) on Monday, December 2, 2024, at the age of 87. Beloved Mother of Domenic, Sergio (Krystyna), Mary Jo (Rino). Her parents Ernest and Marie, as well as her husband, Costanzo, have greeted her with open arms in Heaven.
She will be dearly missed by her adored grandchildren, Amelia, Domenic, Carmine, Olivia, Lydia and Teresa; as well as by her cherished siblings, the late Bernard (Joy), Theresa (Jean), Maurice (Margaret), the late Urbain and Nick (Lynn). She will also be lovingly missed by her many nieces and nephews, extended family here and in Switzerland and her many friends.
Odile centered her life around her family. She was filled with goodness, was caring, hardworking and had an amazing strength of character, while at the same time maintaining a great sense of humour. She always tried her best to walk in the footsteps of Christ.
Those who knew Odile, will have many fond memories of her. Perhaps it was seeing her walk by at her brisk pace, riding her bike, wearing her floral sunhat while working in her beloved garden, sharing in her cherished canoe and camping trips, at family gatherings, as the friendly Doncaster Blvd neighbour, delivering her flyers, sharing in her joy of a high score in her 5-pin bowling league, perhaps as a spectator at her children’s/grandchildren’s events, at the C.A.W. Hall cleaning the offices or bartending, maybe being served a cup of coffee at the Husky Truck Stop, sharing Mass at St. Alfred’s Church or volunteering at the Out of the Cold Program, or having shared childhood memories, whatever they are, we can all agree that there are only beautiful or funny memories when we think of her.
Our family extends our heartfelt gratitude to all the staff of the Walker Family Cancer Centre, Homecare Services received and Hospice Niagara.
Family and friends will be greeted at George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Sunday December 8th from 2-4 & 6-8pm with Vigil Prayers at 3:30pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St Alfred Parish, St Catharines, Monday December 9th at 11am with burial to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery.
If so desired, donations to Walker Family Cancer Centre, Sick Kids Toronto, or Hospice Niagara would be appreciated by the family.
