Dearest Ed,Joanne and family:
We are all so very sorry for the loss of your wonderful Mom.
The boys and I as well as my late parents Roger and Eileen absolutely adored her.
I always loved the chit chats Josie and I would have when she dropped by the office.
I'd say, "well Josie can I build you a coffee?" and she'd say ofcourse Steph"
Our hearts are broken for you all.
She was so loved.
She is now reunited with your,Dad in paradise.
All our Love,
Steph,Marc&Ryan Johnston & Sherri Doig

Jo was an extraordinary teacher. I had the honour of teaching with her in the 70’s .She was a mentor, friend, and inspiration. Her students grew and developed under her firm and loving hand. As colleagues, we marveled at this beautiful, hard working woman who left school each day to continue her work on the farm. She was an amazing woman. Rest in peace Jo. Well done, thou good and faithful servant.

Dear Baranek family,
I talked to your mom a week or so ago to tell her my mom, her longtime friend, Dolores (Cichocki) Sudak, died. Mom and Jozia were friends from childhood and
the Cichocki and Stawiany families go way back.
I was shocked to read that Jozia died so close after mom. I am certain that our moms are together reminiscing in their heavenly home.

I had the privilege of working with Jo as a new teacher at St. Alfred's. She was incredibly encouraging and helpful those first few years, and I always enjoyed her company. Years later, I had the joy of seeing her again at Star of the Sea. My sincere condolences to her family. I regret I will be unable to pay my respect in person but I will keep her in my prayers. Rest in Peace!

First, my condolences to Jo’s family. The person who wrote Josephine’s obituary nailed it with the word ‘determined’. Jo was encouraging in a nurturing way. She and I taught for 5 years at St Alfred School and were the first to arrive in the morning. She always stopped by my room for a chat about life and the ‘goings-on’ at school. On many occasions she told me that she didn’t see me as a teacher for a long term. We all need a gentle nudge in life and Jo wasn’t afraid to share an opinion. I will always thank her for her words of encouragemenrt.
My favourite story about Jo was her husband, Joe’s thoughtfulness. Josephine was a runner in the 70’s and she would tell us that Joe would plow a path through the farm when there was deep snow so she could get her run in. A great memory.

Dear Joanne, Edward and family. I am very sorry for your loss of your mother, grand and great grandmother. Your mom was my first and seventh year homeroom teacher and I looked forward to her inspirational talks and felt safe in her care and learning. I remember most from her years, hatching chicks, discussing the beauty of nature and agriculture, public speaking and the importance of staying limber by showing how she could still put her hands flat on the ground , folding over from standing. Years later we would see each other at Star of the Sea and she was generous with her time and smile. She was fair and firm and an inspirational teacher, and I thank you both for sharing her wisdom, kindness and time with me.

A beyond incredible grandmother (Babcia) and great grandmother (Pra Babcia) to our son Colton. I feel so grateful to have had so many memorable years with her. We will always remember her for her loving nature, storytelling, pleasant positive personality, bright smile, sweet tooth, creativity, and endless love and support for her family. Her love of history and family research has allowed us to know more about our ancestry. A project that brought her much enjoyment. Give her an obstacle and she would be sure to find a solution. A pillar of strength and love in the family. We will miss her forever and always.
