Obituary of James Nicolaides
April 22, 1964 – October 4 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jim Nicolaides.
Jim was a man of deep compassion and unwavering care for others, traits that defined his life and relationships. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and connection that will remain forever in our hearts.
Jim was predeceased by his beloved mother, Frances in 2020 and his father, Nicolas in 1998. He is survived by his brothers, Gabriel (Chrisanthy) and Steve (Brenda), and proud uncle to Frances, Eleni, Kristina and Jordan (Michaela).
Jim was a graduate of Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School and Brock University and made lasting friendships along the way. He played football for Sir Winston Churchill and though his love of sports was evident, his true gift was staying connected with people. Jim was known for writing letters and sending cards, a rare and meaningful way of maintaining bonds over the years. His caring soul touched many lives and his warm presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Most of Jim’s career was spent as a Personal Support Worker, dedicating his life to caring for the elderly, reflecting his gentle heart and selfless nature.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 9th from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines.
The First Thrice Holy Hymn Service/Trisago will take place at 8:00pm at the funeral home. Funeral Service will be the following day, October 10th 2024 at St. Katharine Greek Orthodox Church, 585 Niagara St., St. Catharines at 11:00am. Final Holy Hymn/Trisago will occur at Victoria Lawn Cemetery following the Funeral Service.
