Obituary of Rocco DiPietro
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Rocco DiPietro at his home on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at the age of 84. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Pasqualina, his cherished children, Antonette (Marco) and Francisco (Franca), his adored grandchildren: Vincent, Alexa (Egor), Anthony, Emilie, Luca and Daria. He is also survived by his brother Pietro (Rosa). Rocco is predeceased by his brother Generoso (Rocchina) and niece Antonietta. He will be deeply missed by his many brothers-and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, both here and in Italy.
Rocco was born on May 23, 1940, in Guardia Lombardi, Italy. In 1967, he immigrated to Canada with his wife and two young children, bringing with him a rich Italian heritage and strong family values. Rocco spent over 30 years working at Port Weller Dry Docks, where he was known for his commitment and hard work.
Rocco’s greatest joys in life came from simple pleasures: being surrounded by family, especially his 6 beloved grandchildren, enjoying long drives through the countryside – often picking fruit along the way – and tending to his beautiful vegetable gardens with the utmost care. Rocco also treasured the frequent visits from his brother Pietro, and his cousin and best friend, Vince DiBiasi. Though a man of few words, he made sure to share his life stories and wisdom with all of his grandchildren at the kitchen table – memories that will be cherished for many lifetimes to come.
Rocco’s legacy is one of love, family, and dedication. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
The family will receive friends at the George Darte Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 585 Carlton St. on Wednesday October 2nd from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Vigil prayers at 7pm. Funeral Mass on Thursday, October 3rd at 9:30am at St. Alfred Church, 272 Vine Street. Entombment Victoria Lawn Cemetery.
