In St. Catharines, on Sunday, September 22, 2024, on the first day of Autumn, in her 88th year, our beautiful Mother, Patricia Ellen Douglas Carriere (nee Hunter) passed away. Mom’s long journey with Alzheimer’s and Vascular Dementia has come to an end.
Predeceased by her husband, Ron Carriere (2008), her grandson, Caleb Greer (1988) and her partner, Lionel Latter (2023). Also predeceased by her sisters Diana Mitchell (1984) and Mary Holmes (2009).
Mom will be sadly missed by her daughters Lynda Greer, Wendy Coates, Laura Carriere (Bob Hill) and Karen Carriere. Mom will also be sadly missed by her four grandchildren, Kyle Greer, Sarah Coates, Sean and Jennifer Hill as well as by her sister, Lynda Reid (Lloyd).
Mom was born in Toronto on October 7, 1936. She married our Dad, Ronald Carriere, July 21, 1956. Mom was a wonderful Mother. She loved her girls and grandchildren. She was so proud of all her grandchildren’s accomplishments. Mom loved to travel and joined her family on many adventures around the world. Her favourite trip was to Africa. Mom had her Grade 10 Conservatory in piano and taught piano for many years. She loved Classical and Jazz music. Mom was very active in the Girl Guide Association being a Brownie Leader, Area Commissioner and Camp Leader. She enjoyed camping, canoeing, kayaking and walks in the woods. Mom was also a Figure Skating judge, traveling throughout Ontario to volunteer at test days and competitions. Mom had a love of horses and her favourite place to ride was through the forests. She had the biggest heart for animals and had many cats over the years. Mom was an active volunteer at the Dwight Library and could always be found reading the most current book. Mom loved having a glass of wine with dinner. At home and at the cottage, Mom could be found in her garden tending to her flowers. Over the years Mom spent time at her favourite place, the family cottage on Lake of Bays. This was her true love, being up north at the lake with family. Always quick to make friends and a true social butterfly, Mom thoroughly enjoyed life. Rest peacefully, Mom. We all love you so much.
Celebration of Life to follow at a later date.
Donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be greatly appreciated.
