Dear Erin, Jamie and the rest of the Avery clan - our deepest condolences. Like so many, we LOVED Keith. We had the fortune to spend time with Keith at the Avery home during our undergrad and then a little bit after graduating including a memorable Oktoberfest. Keith always made us feel welcome as he exuded charm, humour and good fun. We can only imagine the sorrow you are all feeling. Know we are thinking of you and sending our love as we remember a truly remarkable man. Ann and Connie.

Dear Bette and family: so very sorry to hear of Keith’s passing. I’ve been meaning to get in touch, but Dick has been palliative for several months now and just died on Wednesday of this week. I know you will understand how busy life has been, and will be for a while! You were always one of my most admired nurses at good old Home Care, sitting beside you and listening to you on the phone were great inspiration to me.
Much love, Jane

Mr. Avery, as he will always be admired and remembered, was my mathematics teacher at Governor Simcoe. He was always kind, caring and ready to help when needed. He was and always will be one of the best educators I have had the pleasure to be instructed by. He planted so many seeds of knowledge and wisdom in so many students and we are all better off because of his dedication and commitment. Truly a great and wonderful man who meant so much to so many students. My sincere and heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.

I was deeply saddened to learn of Keith’s passing and my condolences go out to Bette and all the family. Keith and I started teaching at Merritton High School in 1968 along with many other young promising teachers. Keith was always the life of the staff room and never without a smile.
My late wife and I got to know Keith and Bette very well over the years he taught at MHS. Many nights during those years were spent playing Euchre. Most games became pretty serious because the losers had to do the dinner dishes! lol. One night Keith said there’s a horse running at the old Garden City Race Track called Scoot Moote and asked if I wanted to go over and make a bet. We did and predictably the horse came in dead last. Ever since then Keith called me “Scoot Moote”. lol
Keith was the best of the best as a teacher, friend , husband and father. Rest in peace my friend.

Mr Avery and The Math Dept of Governor Simcoe. Not a star math pupil myself, I greatly appreciated their genuine interest and ongoing patience to make us all succeed. He was a good man. Many happy memories of Simcoe. Condolences to the Avery family.
