On the anniversary of Marilyn's passing, I still miss her and remember her kindness and generosity to everyone around her, including my entire family. She was a marvelous cook and an excellent housekeeper and shared her creations freely and generously with all despite her ever present pain.
She is with God now and her suffering is finally at end. Bless you Marilyn, we miss you and our lives are richer for having known you.

Mugs McGinty Roe
My mom had the strangest nickname for me, she always called me Mugs McGinty Roe. I never knew where she got it from or why she called me that, but I'll never forget it. I also remember when mom told me she was pregnant and that I was going to have a little brother. I was surprised more than anything, but in the end very happy. I remember when she was still pregnant with Josh,I was visiting for the summer and her and Hugh were living in a cabin in Kenosee, lake of the woods. Mom would get so hot that she had to get Hugh to fill two 5lt bucket half full of cold lake water so she could soak her feet. That was one of the best summers ever! The pic of all three of us was taken at Mom's Uncle John's and Aunty Lucy's place in Rocanville. I believe Josh was maybe one years old and I was 16.

I am missing my mom very much, I never really got to see her as often as I'd like to, but the times we were together, it was very treasured. It came as such a shock that she had passed so quickly, but I am glad that she did not suffer. Mom made life interesting. Weather we shared a laugh, cry, or were argueing, I still loved her. It's kinda hard to know that she is gone. I am sorry my son did never meet his Nana, but I knew she loved him the moment she knew he was to come into this world. She was so proud of Josh, and I and loved us feircly. She only wanted the best for us. I used to get mad when people would say I reminded them of her, but now I am not. I am proud to be known as a strong, independant woman, like she was. My mom will live on in my brother Josh, myself and my son Zachary. I love you so much mom and you will forever be in my heart.

Growing up with Marilyn
I spent several years growing up with Marilyn. We both lived with our grandparents, Nap and Eva. We lived in a small Metis community called Victor five miles outside the town of St. Lazare, MB. Our mothers, aunts and uncles also grew up in this community. Grandma use to dress us the same every day, except when we had to do chores. Grandma use to fix Marilyn's golden hair in long ringlets and put tiny bows in them...lol...We shared everything together. We would go to town on a weekend, which was a big thing for us and share a coke and a bag of chips. We use to take long walks in the valley and swim in the river. Our best friends then were our cousins, Buckley and Rose Hayden who lived a mile from us. This is where we rode the horses bareback. Grandma use to get mad at us because we smelled of horse sweat...lol...Those days will be cherished memories for me. The last time I saw Marilyn was in 2006 when I was in Niagara Falls. Her and Josh came to visit us @ our campsite and stayed the night. We talked of our childhood and by the time we realized, it was 4 am and the fire was out.
I will certainly miss my cousin:(

Our beloved Marilyn sorely missed forever
Marilyn was a fighter because she had to deal with a lot of pain and suffering over the last few years . She had severe body wounds and flesh eating disease which caused great pain and suffering . She was a very brave and generous person . Even though she was in pain she still kept her sense of humour and caring for other people . She loved to tell jokes . She loved animals and used to break horses when she was a young girl in Manitoba . One of her wishes she expressed to us was that her cats be taken care of when she passed . Thank you Bonnie and Dave for looking after Marilyns beloved cats Peaches and Cream . Another wish was that her ashes be laid to rest with her much beloved Grandparents Napoleon and Eva Belhumeur and her mother Jean in Manitoba . It was a crippling and devastating loss to us when she died . We will miss her forever . Our lives now have an unfillable void . Our hearts are broken forever . We will be with you again someday our beloved darling . Your loving husband and son ( Hugh and Joshua )

Loving Kindness
When I first met Marilyn in 1983, I realized what a kind and generous soul she was. She was wonderful to me and the rest of our family. I soon discovered what a terrific cook she was as well.
Marilyn had suffered a great deal these many years with one health challenge after another, but her kindness persisted despite it all. She will be sorely missed.
