How lucky we are in Niagara to have had the benefit of Liz's unparalleled contributions to the arts, to philanthropy, and to the vibrancy of this city. My heartfelt condolences to Liz's family, along with sincere thanks for sharing the blessing that was Liz with all of us.

I had the distinct pleasure of working with Liz during the first years of the Niagara Poverty Reduction Network. It was hard not to be impressed—and inspired—by her commitment to bettering life for people in Niagara. Rest in power, Liz!

My profound and sincere sympathy to Liz’s entire circle of family and friends. I came to know Liz in my role as principal at St. Catharines Collegiate. Her primary role was as an interested and involved parent. She was supportive and dedicated to the education and happiness of her children and to the effective and forward thinking progress of the school as a whole. Later she became involved with School Council and became an indispensable ally of all students, parents, teachers and the administration of C.I. I could always count on Liz to give me measured, balanced, effective and reflective advice. I was very lucky to have her as a partner in education and she made me a better principal. Thank you for sharing her with us. May her memory be a blessing.

I first met Liz through Adrian, who I knew from Brock and Shaw. I was instantly taken with her thoughtfulness, humour, and curiosity...and her ability to get stuff done while holding one of her children perched on her hip! I later had the pleasure of working with Liz at Carousel Players and was grateful every day for her calm and her laugh in what could be at times a chaotic situation. I will always be thankful for what I learned from her about being a leader and just a genuinely good person.

The community foundations network in New Zealand is enormously saddened by the news of the passing of Liz, who was so generous with her time when she worked with us, first in 2017 when she came to NZ to speak at our conference and again in 2018 when she travelled the country working with our nascent foundations, helping them to develop their strategic direction. Liz had a presence and a leadership style that we term as 'mana' in NZ - life force, influence, respect - and a wicked sense of humour which meant that time with Liz was always a delight. We thank her for her influence which stretches across the world, and continues on in the legacy she leaves behind. Rest in peace to a beautiful soul, much aroha (love) and respect from the entire team at Community Foundations of Aotearoa New Zealand - Eleanor Cater, CFANZ

Liz was such a positive force to be near. I knew Liz from the GNCC but also our offices were in the same building. She always had a smile and something positive to share. She was a change agent for good in Niagara. It was an honour and blessing to have known her.

We remember Liz well from her first days running the Independent bookstore in St. Catharines. She was always ahead of the game! We followed her fine work with the Niagara Foundation, whose good work continues.
Our condolences to her family.

I send my condolences to all of Liz’s family and friends. I volunteered with Liz in the spring of 2024 as part of the Rotary literary program reading to school children in St. Catharines. Liz was a lovely warm and kind person. I am very sad to hear about her passing but upon reading her biography here I realize just how lucky I am our paths crossed even briefly. The Rotary has lost a shining light.

I had the pleasure and privilege of sharing an office space and directly working with Liz for several years creating synergies between my role at the Ontario Trillium Foundation with her leadership role at the Niagara Community Foundation. Our conversations and dog and pony shows throughout the region were so meaningful and impactful. Liz was a brilliant tactician, communicator, thinker, and believer in doing what was best for the most. Her smile and friendship will be missed by all of us but the legacy she built will last forever. My heartfelt condolences to the Palmieri Family. Manfred Fast

Dear Palmieri family, Liz’s energy and contributions to family, community and friends are so very beautifully summarized in her obituary! Thank you for this glimpse into her impactful life which invites us, who are left to carry on, of our own power to reach out in whatever way possible. Liz was a beloved friend of mine whose memory and spirit will accompany me through the rest of my own days. She bore her struggles with great inner strength, nourished by trust, good humour and always a tremendous sense of gratitude and kindness. May your own road ahead find its peace once again, and may Liz’ memory serve as encouragement to find joy, meaning and the knowledge that each of us are connected in some mysterious way. Many blessings along your road ahead!
