Obituary of Theodorus Van Stralen

VAN STRALEN, Theodorus - Passed away suddenly on November 14th, 2012 in Florida in his 88th year. Beloved husband of Theresia of 59 years. Cherished father of Afra (Roy), Ted (Robbie), Pete (Teri), Jane (Ed), Diane (Gary), Dan and Lori (Rob). Loving Opa of 18 grandchildren. He is predeceased by his daughter Agatha in 1974 and his brother Walter in 2004. Theodorus is survived by 2 sisters and 5 brothers all of the Netherlands. He will be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews. Theodorus retired from General Motors in 1982 after 28 years of service. He received a Purple Heart when he served with the Dutch Army in Indonesia from 1946 to 1949. Theodorus immigrated to Canada from the Netherlands in 1953. The family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Wednesday from 2-4p.m. & 7-9p.m. Vigil prayers will take place on Wednesday at 3:30p.m. in the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas More Church, 6548 Dorchester Road, Niagara Falls on Thursday at 10:30a.m. Rite of Committal at Victoria Lawn Cemetery to follow. Memorial donations to the War Amps, C.N.I.B. , Sick Children's Hospital or the Covenant House would be appreciated by the family.
