Obituary of Giovanna Gentile
Gentile, Giovanna (August 18, 1929 - August 14, 2024)
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Giovanna Gentile on Wednesday, August 14th at the age of 94. Predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Petito, her sister Antonietta and brothers-in-law Frank Tota and Francesco DiBiasi. She will be dearly missed by her children Marianne (Paul) Alfonsi, Pat (Jade) Gentile, Josie (Frank) Trivieri and Petrina (Steve) Gentile. Also, mourned by her sister Pierina DiBiasi in Italy. Cherished forever by her grandchildren Joanne (Mario), Jeff (Liz), Michael (Jenn), Danielle (Myron), Peter, Jordan, Tommas (Jessica), Kayla and Nathan. Also missed by her great-grandchildren Matteo, Chiara, Priya, Austin, Felix and Sophia.
Giovanna immigrated to Canada in 1956. She worked as a baker at Homestead Bakery and as a cook at Holiday Inn for decades. She was an avid gardener who enjoyed making tomato sauce from her garden. Sunday gatherings featured her homemade pastas and desserts. She loved playing cards and going to dinner dances with family and friends. She cherished her time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her dog, Luna. Her home was always filled with music, love and laughter. No one ever left her home hungry or empty handed.
Special thanks to Rush, Elaine (LHIN), Dana (Paramed), March of Dimes and all support staff.
Donations in Giovanna’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Alzheimer Society of Canada.
