Obituary of Braxton Stokes Brown
Braxton Stokes Brown, 44 days old, passed away peacefully in his parents’ arms, and surrounded by family on August 6, 2024 at McMaster Children's Hospital.
Braxton was born on June 23, 2024, to Spencer and Shelby Brown and was just about 8lbs of perfection. During his brief time on earth, he enjoyed listening to music and being held close by his parents, grandparents, uncles and big brother. He had a perfect button nose and big beautiful blue eyes that never got to see the world. Braxton was so deeply loved and will be terribly missed by Shelby and Spencer (parents), Stratton (big brother), maternal grandparents (Sandra “Baba” and Robert “Nono” Gobbo), paternal grandparents (Jill Service “Nana” and Sandy Brown “Papa”), uncles (Colton “Zio”, Ashton “Dyadʹko” Gobbo) and aunt (Hillary Vivian-Dufour).
Braxton was an extremely busy baby in mom’s tummy and couldn’t wait to see the world. He enjoyed milkshakes and banana splits and listening to mom’s heartbeat. His life was unfairly cut short after a catastrophic accident during delivery.
His little hands were so soft and still, we held them in our own, whilst wishing we had more than just a handprint coming home. We studied every nail and line and every inch of Braxton, and cried for all the things his little hands would never do. We’d never get to clean his hands, there’d be no messy play, we’d never see his fingers point to things he’d try to say. We’d never hear the sound they’d make whilst splashing in the bath, or how they’d cover up his lips whilst trying not to laugh. We wish so much we could have taught him how to write his name, or watched his little hands outstretched to play a catching game. His little hands would never feel a scrape or gain a scar, nor would they play an instrument or learn to drive a car. His little hands, our little hands, forever left unchanging, no exploring, falling, climbing, drawing and no ageing. Our only wish is that we had more time, because we could have spent forever with his little hands in mine.
During his 44 short days here on earth he touched many lives and left an impact a thousand times his size. Precious Braxton was the sweetest baby boy and even though the time was short, he was an amazing little brother. He was incredibly strong and will forever be our “beefy Braxton”.
A million times we’ve needed you,
A million times we’ve cried.
If love alone could have saved you,
You never would have died.
A million words would not bring you back,
I know, because I’ve tried.
Neither would a million tears,
I know, because I’ve cried.
If all the world was ours to give,
We would give it yes, and more,
To see you coming up the steps,
And walking through the door.
To hear your voice and see your smile,
To sit and talk a while,
A heart of gold stopped beating,
Two beautiful eyes closed to rest.
Mommy, Daddy and big brother Stratton love you forever little Braxton Stokes Brown.
Please hold any donations at this time, we are currently working on setting up something in Braxton’s name will share when it is ready.
